Thanksgiving

I had a great Thanksgiving with my family.  This Thanksgiving was the first time in a long while that my entire family was together in one house.  My husband and kids were there as well as my parents and my younger brother Jason.  My older brother Kevin was there with his wife and two boys.  My father's mother and my mother's father were there as well.  (Grandparents)  :)

Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks.  I am thankful for a lot of things but I am most thankful for the SMILE my mother had on her face the entire day. Why was she smiling? Becuase she the one thing she had been longing for, her entire family was together under one roof and no one was arguing!  It was like we stepped backin time to when we were kids. We goofed off and shared memories.  It was awesome!

Sometimes we take things for granted (like family).  Maybe we should step back and take a look at the world.....?  Do you tell you family how grateful you are for the little things they do for you?  Does your family know you are grateful to have them?

Learning About Native Americans

Dsc05658_7 This week we are learning about the Native American Indians or Georgia.  The students have chosen a Native American name for themselves.  We are also learning about Native American Symbols.  Soon we will be able to write our Native American names using symbols.  We have so much to learn about.  Next week we will be making drums and headdresses.  I hope me class will be ready to do their rain dance at the end of next week.   How do you think they will feel about doing a rain dance and experience first hand a little of the Native American culture?

Dioromas

Dsc05655_2 If you pass by any of the 3rd grade classrooms watch out for Lions, Tigers, and Bears...Oh my.. We have some outstanding dioramas. Our students put allot of hard work into making a habitat for an animal that they chose. I am very proud of all of our students for being so creative and hard working.Dsc05654_1

Keep up the good work.

Election

Well, another Presidential election has come and gone. It was really exciting to see all of my students become so involved in the election. By watching CNN everyday my students were able to keep up the keep up with the candidates. Most of my class voted for Bush on Monday. Everyone was excited that Bush won the mock-election, however on Wednesday when we found out Bush had won for real, our excitement could not be contained.

Learning About Weblogs

Today is Thursday, October 28th 2004.

Today is an exciting day for me. Mrs. Ann Davis has come to teach the third grade teachers how to use weblogs. I have several ideas for how I will use my weblog in my classroom. Students and parents will be able to recieve information about our classroom. Students will be able use the weblog as well.
