About this edublog project

WAIT! This cannot happen! Chapter 10-BH

Well, I hope all of y'all are up to chapter 10 in your readings. If you are not... than do not read this!

I cannot believe that Leslie died!!! This portion of the book really made me angry. Why did they have to make her die? Jess should not have to deal with this in his life. He is already pretty "messed up". Also, I have strong opinions about reading this within a fourth or fifth grade classroom. I do not feel that it is a teacher's job to have to discuss death with a nine or ten year old. They will have a hard time understanding such an abstract concept. I also feel that it is not my place. The fact that the parents have Leslie creamated is also not appropriate! This also is another concept that I would not feel comfortable discussing within my classroom. How would you explain to your students why Jess would never get to say goodbye to Leslie? How would you explain why Jess would never get to see his best friend again? I just think that for classroom novel, this is not one that I would require my students to read.

Can't wait - Prereading - DN

I can't wait to begin reading the book!  I believe the story is about a young boy who finds great competition and love in his life.  This story could relate to real-life experiences in so many ways!  Every student, in one way or another, can relate to love, competition, loss, and even jealousy!  Once again, I really look forward to reading the Bridge to Terabithia!

The Very First Bridge Boasting!!

We are so excited about our EduBlog!  We can't wait to jump right into the book!  Throughout this process, we hope to build new "bridges" into literacy!
