Staying Out of Trouble

            Since I was a baby, I have been keeping my family out of trouble. One time that sticks out in my mind is the time my sister Danielle and I got our dad out of a ticket. I don’t really remember this first-hand because I was only, like, a year old, but from all of the stories I've heard, it feels as if it just happened yesterday. This is how my daddy told the story to me.

            My dad was picking my sister and me up from our grandma’s house after he was bowling one night. Now, believe me. If you knew my dad you would know that at one time in his life, he and my mom would bowl almost every night. So, we were lucky that he even remembered to come get usJ. Okay, back to the story. Danielle and I had fallen asleep in the car, like most babies do, when our dad got pulled over for speeding. From what I have heard, it was only one mile over; I guess I’ll never know. My dad got out of the car and the officer was looking around the car when he accidentally woke us up. I guess we made some really funny faces at him, ‘cause he couldn’t stop laughing.

            My dad says that we were so cute that the officer forgot to give him his ticket. When I was little, I always asked my dad to tell me this story. I guess that’s why I remember it so well. I just thought it was so cool that I saved him a couple hundred dollars. Now, I know this is probably not the whole story, but I believed it back then because I guess I didn’t know any better.

Spring is here!

                        

    Cherry Blossoms, to me, signify the beginning of spring. When I see these outside I know that the dreary season of winter is finally over. I love the way the petals looks like rain when the wind blows them off the tree. If I could I would replace all the trees in my backyard with cherry blossoms. Petals fromm these trees look much better than the pine needles and pine cones I usually see whenh i look out my window.

Origins of Life- Intelligent Design

        In Biology, We have been studying Evolution, Theistic Evolution, Intelligent Design, and Creationism. My group was assigned Intelligent Design; at first, I was not sure what Intelligent Design was all about, so in order to be prepared for our debate, we began research on it.

        I did a lot of research on Intelligent Design and Theistic Evolution, the group we debated, but I still did not completely understand either one. I did not really want to understand them, which is most likely the reason we lost. I was never really concerned with the creation of life, and I don’t think I ever will. It is not important for me to know where I came from or where I might be going.

        What I did learn about Intelligent Design, though, is very interesting. Intelligent Design states that features of living organisms and the universe are better explained by an “intelligent cause” rather than natural selection, which is more of a random process. Theistic Evolution, which is another name for evolution guided by a divine being, is similar to evolution except theistic evolutionists believe in God. I did not find many sites associated with Theistic evolution, so I could not sufficiently research my opponents’ theory.

Who’s to blame?

                  In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, many people could probably find a way to blame almost everyone in Romeo and Juliet’s lives for their deaths, but if they were to trace the blame all the way back; it would lead to Romeo and Juliet’s parents. The parents of Romeo and Juliet are to blame for continuing the family feud and also for teaching their kin to be enemies. No one knows if Romeo and Juliet were told why they should hate each other’s family, but if they were not informed of the reason, then how can they be expected to hate each other without being able to justify that hate. Also, if they do not know the reason for their hatred towards each other’s family, then how can Romeo and Juliet be expected to obey their parents for a feud they could not control the outcome of. If the parents of Romeo and Juliet had not started this feud, then Romeo, Juliet, and their friends would still be alive.

Themes of Romeo and Juliet

These are my reflections on the themes of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. I would appreciate your thoughts, so feel free to comment.

• Do parents know what is best for their children more so than the children themselves? Most parents imagine that they know what is best for their children, and a lot of the time they do, but children also know what is best for them. Parents just need to trust their children to make the right decisions.
• Do young people feel emotions more deeply than older people? I don’t think they feel emotions more deeply, but they do take their emotions more seriously than adults.
• Do people who are deeply in love act irrationally? I wouldn’t call it irrational; I would just call it following your heart.
• Do the sins of one generation affect the next? The acts of one generation absolutely affect the next in a negative way, because that is how society will remember that family. But it is not fair that the younger generation have to deal with the consequences. 
• Should people marry without the blessing of their friends and family? I believe it is okay to marry without blessings or permission because you’re the one marrying the person, not your family or friends.

Why does it matter?

The article I read was called “Wet and Wild”; it told readers how they can save money by making their own electricity. Since our school has a stream behind it, we could try and make our own electricity. All we would need is a micro hydro system. A micro hydro system is actually inexpensive compared to solar panels. I don’t think their would be enough electricity to power the whole school, but maybe part of it. This would probably be difficult to raise money for, so getting one of these systems is near impossible.
