Here is what the Dalai Lama has to say......

"The natural environment sustains the life of all beings in the world. However, nearly everywhere these days, it is undergoing extensive degeneration. Therefore, it is more important than ever that we all make whatever effort we can to ensure the conservation and protection of the planet, its air, its land and its water.

"Our inner environment determines our attitude towards the earth's natural environment, our relationship with it, and our impact on it. Only when enough people cultivate an inner environment that respects all forms of life, reflects a sincere concern for justice and equality, a genuine compassion for all beings, and projects all of this onto the outer environment, will the world's water and other natural resources be safe for the future."

Hey, cool blog. Just to tell you I am from a Georgia high school. I agree with you there on the line graph being the hardest to read. I like the pie graph because it is round and it has pie as a name. Do you know any other graphs?

Next up is Alejandra blogging on a post about Sully.

The Best Comment So Far

"Wow great post. I never knew that there was so much to learn about Montana. My name is Sully and I am in ninth grade at a local high school. You look like you can wright and research well. After reading your post, I actually do want to visit Montana one day."

This short paragraph you just read was a comment. This comment was the one I think was the best comment so far. I chose this comment because I thought that it it was very nice for her to say that I know how to research. She also told me that by reading the post "Montana" (you can read it on Alejandra's blog under Mr.Harris' class) she decided to go visit Montana. That makes me feel like if she really paid attention to the post, and made me feel that taking my time was worth it.

Desiree has some "amazing thoughts" about Paige on this post:

My Comment

''Hi Desiree!! My name is Paige. I am a student at a near by Georgia high school. I love your I AM peom. I noticed that you mentioned Indians a lot. You know, there was a very big tribe that lived in Georgia many years ago called the Cherokee. What do you know about them? Have you visited any of the historical sites? Your doing a good job so far. Keep it up! P.S I like the pink font'' This is a comment that a student commented to me. I loved it.They know what she was talking about. I can tell she really read my blog. She was nice and didn`t put any ( not good in school ) words. She also gave me a good question. I can tell she was a high schooler! When I saw this comment I knew she was a good blogger... maybe I will look on her blog too.

On Jennifer's Thinking Blog she thinks it's cool to get this post  from Kristen.

A Post From Kristen

'' Hi Jennifer
Hi my  name Kristen. I am from a high school in the Atlanta area. Is your hobby karate? My favorite hobby begins with a d. What are you learning about in school?"
This a comment from Kristen. I really like this post because it is from a hischooler. Don't you think that was cool to get a post from a hischooler? I think is was cool to get a post from an older person who you don't get to see all the time. I really like this post.

Gian chimes in on a favorite comment from Laura on this post:

My Favorite Comment

Comments is the best part of blogging! Comments make you feel special inside. This is one of my favorite comments I received:

"Hi Gian! I'm Laura, and I'm from a near by high school.
You're poem is really good. In one of my classes earlier in the year we had to write an "I Am" poem, and we had to write the poem as if we were a character from the story we read!
From the looks of you're poem it seems like you like to read fantasy books!

Do you like to write poetry?"

The reason I liked this comment was it made me feel positive  instead of negative. It also shows that  I made great blog.

Laura gets another thank-you on this post from another Laura!

The Best Comment That I Recived

I would thank Laura because she is the best comment that I recived.  I like her comment because she likes the things that I like.

Wow!!!

Kudoes to all of you for making comments. It is fun to see what the elementary students are thinking. What a difference you made with comments! Are you beginning to see the value of comments?

Making Progress!

Slowly, but surely, we are making progress in the world of blogging!  I really like your template designs; of course, you can always change them if you want.  I am enjoying reading not only your posts on "Why it Matters" but also your comments to others' posts.  The topics are wide and varied, but they all somehow relate to our natural environment.  Remember to comment to at least two other bloggers' posts.  Let the blogger know that his/her voice has been heard by rephrasing ideas in the blog that made you think, feel or learn.  Ask at least one question in your comment so as to continue a conversation and deepen thinking.

The next two posts you compose will be about 1.) the watershed and 2.) nature in literature.  For the first one, discuss what your reactions are to the watershed unit.  What have you learned? Has your perspective changed about our most valuable resource?  I know that I have learned that water is part of a deeply interconnected system.  What we pour on the ground ends up in our water, and what we spew into the sky ends up in our water.  As you discuss the watershed, share your brainstorming with regard to your watershed project for English 9.  (I'm still waiting for the Green Stream Band to get going....come on, Joshua!!)  Second, discuss how the natural world plays a role in the literature you are reading.  Are you reading fiction or nonfiction?  What is the author's intent?  Would the literature be as effective without the inclusion of the natural world?

Looking forward to hearing what you have to say!
