On the lam - LQJ
I've struck out on finding a good resource for the etymology for the saying "on the lam". The beginning of Chapter 5 says, "BEING ON THE LAM was a whole lot of fun. . . for about five minutes." I like the way the author begins the chapter because it makes me want to read more, but I wondered about the phrase "on the lam". The Merriam online dictionary doesn't give a source for the saying. I need help in finding better online resources for word origins.
