What I learned in Class

What have you learned in class? Well in science class Iv'e learned about the different parts of earth. The crust, mantle, and the core. The crust is the outermost layer of earth. The mantle is the middle layer of earth. The mantle is made of molten rock which shoots out of volcanoes. The last layer of earth is called the core. The core is actually made of many metals(mostly magnetic to be exact). It is made of iron, nickle, alloy, and some other unidentified metals. That is why the earth has a magnetic pull. Like a magnet it has north and south poles. This is what I have learned in class.

What is something that you have learned in class?

In a workshop I took last week I learned about digital storytelling. A digital story is a short video clip, recorded with your own voice, illustrated with still images, and with an optional music track. I learned how to create digital stories using photo story 3.

My teacher was Dr. Helen Barrett. She has a website full of information on digital stories at http://electronicportfolios.com/digistory/

I am interested in using what I learned to help my kids create digital stories about what they have learned this term.

eddie,
I have used digital story telling. My story was about my trip to disney world. When I made my digital story I made the pictures rotate like a slide show. Then the background was black with with raining glitter. I have it as my screen saver on my computer. Can you show me some of the digital stories that your students made when they are done with them?

You can see the first digital story that my son and I made. He is in grade 2 and it was a reflection on some of his term 2 work. It is on my wiki at http://canadianmom.wikispaces.com/

Carolyn,
That digital story that you and your son made was great. I have my own wiki in blogging.
