Remember, you are going to write a story based on a photograph.  Examine the picture carefully. don't just glance at it, but really study all the details before you begin to write. think about what might be happening. Your are not going to describe just whay you see in the picture. You are going to make up a story based on this picture.

Here's a review of what we talked about yesterday.

• Use your curiosity to begin wondering about your photograph.
• "Just Imagine" a story behind the picture and the subject.
• Brainstorm words and ideas about the photograph before you create your story.
• "Bump up" your vocabulary - remember the thesaurus and use words that will make your readers make other pictures in their head. The handout listing character traits may help you here.
• Use 'A Picture's Worth a Thousand Words Chart Example to get your brain churning with possiblilities for characters, setting, situation and vocabulary.
• Create a lead that will hook your reader.
• Have interesting details or dialogue that engage your reader.
• Make sure your story flows and makes sense.
• Use your imagination. Be creative. This is your story based on your interpretation of the photograph you chose.
• Entertain us, pique our interest, educate us, ENGAGE us!
• Proofread it and ask someone else to check your story for errors.
