This is a mock post to show you a sample as you post away at NECC.
The first session I attended today was EduBlogs - An Emerging Force in Education
This session was a panel discussion conducted by educators who are currently using EduBlogs in classrooms. Many in the audience did not know what a EduBlog was. So the following definition emerged from the panel.
Weblogs are spaces on the web where you can write and post about a topic or several topics. Unlike traditional websites, they provide instant, type-n-click publishing that can be done anywhere, anytime and from any browser. And, the best thing about weblogs is that they encourage discussion and interaction from many participants, not just a select few. Weblogs are sometimes referred to as "blogs "and the act of posting to a weblog is often called "blogging." In educational circles, they are frequently referred to as "EduBlogs" or "Schoolblogs."
Exciting classroom uses were shared. A former high school teacher, now a Director of Technology, shared his creative uses with journalism students, literature classes, parent groups, and meeting collaboration EduBlogs. A media specialist discussed the many uses for writing classes, content area classes, and networking with other educators. An elementary teacher shared how she used EduBlogs with her reading classes. She also shared how EduBlogs can be used in a quick and easy way to share with parentsw what is going on in your classroom..
The best thing about this session was to see possible uses of a dynamic tool that lets you publish instantly on the web, collaborate with others in a way not possible before, provide an audience for the work your students are doing, and many other things. You could tell that learning was alive in these classrooms and student voices were being empowered! I want to learn more about this and I'm sure you will, too.
The interest in the room was high. Questions abounded. In fact, we went over the time because everyone wanted to know more!
