Latest updates in integrating technology with music

Greetings bloggers,

I do not know if anyone is still maintaining contact with this site, but I wanted to just provide GCATT with my latest uses of integrating technology into my education and education training.

1) I've been using my Sony Minidisc Recorder to record myself. I'm currently working with some additional software to transfer that into a CD recording that I can keep for reference purposes.

2) I have used my Photoscore Software (purchases with funds from the conference) to scan music into my computer. Using this in conjunction with the Sibelius platform, I was able to do a transposition job in one hour instead of three or four

3) Our marching band techniques class is currently using a program called Pyware 3D Java to plot various marching band assignments on a virutal field. More advanced versions of the platform can change the perspective to a 360 degree look of the field. It'd be something nice to have if I could manipulate it.

4) Still in search of the funds for the ever-elusive Maple. (I know where to buy it now).

Hope all is well.

I've spent my money!!!!

Hello all·

 <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

I have finally spent my stipend money.  At the conference, I decided that I wanted to spend my money on a digital camera.  Once I got home, I began looking on ebay and sales papers looking for just the right one.  Finally, I found it and I now have my very own digital camera.  I am really looking forward to using it personally as well as in the classroom.  Iâve used one that the school owns in the classroom; however, it will be nice to have my own at my fingertips whenever I want.  As I get better at uploading and editing pictures, Iâll try to add one to this site.  I hope everyone is enjoying school and if anyone can share any good ideas for using a digital camera in the classroom, Iâd love it.

Thanks,

Group Photos

The next six posts will be a group picture of your delegation.  I have sent a CD containing many more photos to each of your University faculty members.  I'm sure they will be glad to share this with you.  What a great looking group we took to NECC!

eBN Leads the Way with Weblog Hosting for Teachers

I talked about this on an earlier post.  I'm happy to tell you that hosting is now available for individual teachers on the eBN site.  eBN is one of my favorite weblog sites.  I have learned a lot from these educators.  Pat DeLaney is the educator behind this wonderful site.

This is info straight from the site:

Thank you for your interest in creating a one year eBN Weblogger ManilaØ web site at educational pricing. We offer single Manila site hosting for individual teachers at $19.95 for the first year, with renewal at $39.95 per year should you decide to continue the use of your one year trial site.

You really need to think about joining this organization. There's no fee - it's a group of teachers and organizations who help each other as we learn more about weblogs. Their mission statement reads as follows:

edBlogNet is a collaborative of teachers and organizations using weblogs in education. Its purpose is to help its members, kindergarten through university, to access and use weblog technology for the teaching of writing and reading across the disciplines. The network provides a forum for educational professionals who use weblogs, an array of opportunities for teachers to continue their professional growth, and a framework for cooperation to deal with issues that affect the integration of weblog and other digital technologies into teaching and learning.

Check it out and if you create a weblog, be sure to give us the URL.  I know all of you will do some great things this year.  A weblog is a great place to share those wonderful things!  Click on the Discussion links and you will read some interesting posts from educators.  You may wish to post yourself!

Still waiting for my software

Greetings delegation,

A month after NECC2003, and I still haven't received my PhotoScore Professional Software that I ordered at the conference. I was told that I would be able to get it the week that I returned, and to date I have received nothing!

Also, does anyone have an alternate email address for Lucille Harden (other than the one listed on the website). I promised to send her some pictures from NECC that I took. I have them ready, but I lost the address!
