Who is America's Most Talented Kid?

Check out this story from Time for Kids.... Who Is America's Most Talented Kid? Who do you think is the most talented kid in America? The girl in your class who thinks she's the next Avril Lavigne? Or the boy down the street who acts like his gum chomping and bubble blowing are extraordinary? Or maybe, just maybe, you think it might be you! The Search for the Most Talented Kid in America is a new talent/reality show that will spotlight kids from all across the country competing for a top talent prize. The kids will be broken up into three age categories (3-7, 8-12, 13-15). The show will air on NBC and will feature competitions in singing, dancing and "exceptional and unusual acts." Check out the rest of the story using the link above or your Time for Kids magazine. Think about the beginning of this news article.  We'll discuss this Thursday.  Remember to bring in your two lead paragraphs.  Proofread please before you come to class.  Looking forward to seeing you Thursday!

Voice for Peace

Now this is uplifting news. Jimmy Carter, a former U.S. President from Georgia, is finally recognized for all he has done to promote worldwide peace. Read all about it at the Time for Kids site article entitled Jimmy Carter Wins Nobel Peace Prize. Carter joins one-time Georgia resident Woodrow Wilson and Theodore Roosevelt on the list of American presidents who have won.

Also, check out another site where people write about their heroes. Read some of the stories about Jimmy Carter. Also, you might want to read about some other heroes. We may submit our own hero stories a little later. Be thinking about someone who is your hero and what you might like to write about that person. The mission statement of this site states that now more than ever, children, teachers and parents yearn for messages of hope and courage to face the challenges that lie ahead.
