My Final Post

Well, this is my final post, and the last time you will be reading my post. Reading, typing, and commenting these are weekly things we do. None of the bloggers want to stop because we have done such a good job. We have been through good situations when the group is successful, and bad when technology fails us. We hope none of us will quit. I hope you will keep reading and learning. Try to get a good education and life.

My Education Goes Worldwide

Well, we are almost at the end of the year. This is one my last post in elementary school. My education has gone to a limit that I would have never imagined. I have learned that giving tips would help me and other people better at your posts and writing. I have learned that you don't work independently you work in groups. The weblogs have taught me that if you don't have good words people won't read your post because it would be so boring. I learned that if you really try hard to give tips to other people they might listen to you. All of the webloggers learned that we should never give up in what we are writing or posting. One of the most important thing I learned to do was to become a better writer. I always try to do the longest post I can. The tips that  I give, read, and learn will go worldwide. I once thought that blogging was going to be boring. Someday, I will tell about the blogging experience I had.

CRCT Over!

Finally, the week of testing is over. I didn't like the testing week becuase we  had to be quiet, too quiet. You know on our school we work hard, and we are smart. However, I don't like testing because I can't take the silence of the room. The class and the whole school is so quiet. You can even hear the air-conditioner running. Also, I don't like testing because there is this girl that we always have to wait for her. I think that the whole people in the 4th and 5th grade had to wait on her. The best thing about the CRCT is the movies and free time.

The BEST thing about it is that it is OVER.

Long Live Blogs

I had read a story on Inappropriate Comments made by Mrs. Davis. I was surprised that other people don't trust other people can have a chance to write in blogs. Besides, if we get a bad comment we can just delete it with a click of a button. Those people that don't trust us are wrong that we can't blog because blogs are what make people better at writing. I also think that we should be able to blog because ever since the weblog group started blogging, all of us have improved on our writing skills. Also, once I saw on CNN that people are getting bad grades on writing. Weblogs will help you on your writing skills and help you be a better writer. The people that want to end blogs should at least give us chance to explain to them that blogs are helpful because you can express your feelings and problems. If the people that are against blogs should listen to the people that have been attached to blogs for months or years, and they should try to do blogs sometime and see how it feels. If you like to be a blogger like me we have to defend the blogs. LONG LIVE BLOGS!

Fox the Toothless Fox

Last two weeks ago, we had an assignment to do. The best thing about the assignment was that we could write about anything we want to write about.

Hello! I'm Goopy a prairie dog, and I got this astonishing story to tell you. O.K. now lets see, oh yeah!, here we go. Once there was this fox out hunting, and then I told all of my folks that the fox was hunting in the meadow like a hunter with his new riffle in his thick, wrinkled, old hand. But did they listen to me nooo. Then, the fox approached our home. That old meanie was about to get my folks. However, I got a thin root from the ground and then WHACK!! I hit it so hard that the fox went off crying to its mommy. “Hey! maybe I was right, I might actually be braver then that big, huge, ugly fox ,” I told myself.

It was lunch time and boy could I eat a cow and four elephants. All my brothers and sisters were at the kitchen bragging about their games and waiting to see what was for lunch. Our mother hadn’t come back since 4:30, and I was starting to get worried. All of the sudden, came a scream that was so loud that the giant Ant Volcano erupted with ants! Then I went outside, and there she was, running for her family and her life, mom. I ran inside to dig a tunnel in order to save my mom and the food. I was digging as fast as a cheetah but it was no use. The fox got her and ate her. I had enough of this, I made a plan to stop the fox from eating our family. We were at the first step of the plan,  but it failed I was so close to succeed, but my brother had to use the restroom and the fox heard him running to our house and went away. I went to plan B and when I tried it nobody would agree with me because they thought it was crazy. Come on, do you really think moving away from your home is crazy? I only had one more choice and it was to make a fake rabbit.

O.K., here is the plan, you have to find some clay. You need to get some flowers, and I need to go to the city and get a newspaper. Now, I need to get the newspaper and make sure that I wouldn't get killed or hurt. I packed my stuff and said goodbye to my 19 brothers and sisters, 35 uncles, and 35 aunts. When I got close to a river, I was starting to smell this odor that was like a dead animal or something. Anyways, I was getting closer to a road, and you know when there is a road that road will always lead to a city. I was going by a sign with an animal on it. I think it might have had been a or a coyote. Well when I arrived to the city I had to find a newspaper. It took me almost a day until I finally got a newspaper. I was so happy that I found the newspaper before dark, but then when I was about 400 feet away from my home my happiness ended. I was body to body, face to face, and eye to eye with a fox. That fox followed had followed me all the way from my house to the city! I soon realized that I was so close home I started to run into my house and I got there safely. The next thing we were working on was on the rabbit, and when we were done, I put it outside on the meadow. The fox took a huge bite into it and CRACK!!!!! His teeth fell off. I suddenly became hero at our house and I told everyone that we had finally finished with that fox. Sooner or later it would have had passed away. Now, I am an adult and that was my story. See you next time.

Assignment Organization

We had an assignment to do on the six traits of effective writing and I chose an article from Time For Kids and I put this article on the trait of organization.

Howling winds roared at 100 miles per hour, drowning trees and damaging beachfront homes. Heavy rains fell across hundreds of miles of land. More than 4.5 million people lost power and over 1,500 airline flights were canceled. Hurricane Isabel stormed its way ashore on Thursday, moving into North Carolina and pushing its way up the East Coast.

The huge storm was blamed for at least 17 deaths: nine in Virginia, three in North Carolina, two in Maryland and one each in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Rhode Island.

Eye on Isabel
Hurricanes in the Northern Hemisphere
rotate in a counter-clockwise (west to east) direction around what is called an eye. Isabel's eye pushed ashore Thursday afternoon along the southern Outer Banks, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Like most hurricanes, Isabel weakened as it moved further across land. That's because hurricanes gain strength from the heat and energy found in warm ocean waters. By Friday, Isabel turned into a tropical depression as it traveled toward Canada.

Hurricanes are classified into five categories, based on their wind speeds and potential to cause damage. Weather forecasters called Isabel a Category 2, which has winds of 96-110 miles per hour. Earlier in the week, out in the Atlantic Ocean, Isabel had been a Category 3, with winds clocked at up to 125 miles per hour.

Hurricane preparations had been in the works for a few days. In the nation's capitol, federal government offices were shut down Thursday. The governors of North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Delaware and the mayor of Washington D.C. all declared a state of emergency.

The Good News
Despite its strong winds, Isabel did not do as much damage as weather forecasters had predicted. It did manage to dump as much as 4 inches of rain in Pennsylvania before moving toward Ohio, and Canada.

National Hurricane Center Director Max Mayfield said Isabel posed a threat because ot its size, roughly equal to that of Colorado. "This hurricane will not be remembered for how strong it is," Mayfield said. "It will be remembered for how large it is."

Did you find organization in this article? Well if you didn't, I will tell you why I chose this topic. I chose it because the way that it began and the way the story was ordered. Do you get what organization is? If you don't, organization is when you have your narrative or subject in order just fine.

Extra! Tips & Tips

Hey! Would you like to transform your writing into a masterpiece? Do you want to have interesting facts and fascinating subjects. You need to have some tips from Alejandro. Tip number one, try to include vivid words. Vivid words are better  when they are adjectives and exclamations. An exclamation is a word that expresses feelings such as Wow! Tip number two, try to use dialog more often if it has more than one character. Do you know what dialog is? Well if you don't, here is an example. "Hello, how are you doing?" said Jonathan there is my example. Now do you know what dialog is? Tip number three, try to make it as long and interesting as you can and don't include things that will confuse you or your reader. Like when you repeat two words, misspell words, miss words, and leave words out. I hope these tips will help you and now your writing will be ready to be a masterpiece.

More of Scavenger News

Good morning this is Alejandro reporting from Scavenger News. First up, remember the Shooting Spree caused by Brian Nichols? Here is the story about the woman that Brain Nichols kept hostage. We will leave you with Marcos to tell you about the story.

After the shooting spree in the courthouse Brian Nichols went into woman’s home and took her hostage. Ashley Smith soon realized that the man who took her hostage was the one who killed the judge as well as other people. She thought that those were her last hours of life. She then told him about her daughter that had only one parent. Also, she told him that without her she would die. Brian Nichols let Ashley go see her daughter. Immediately she called 911. In minutes the police was already there. Waving a white shirt he gave up. Now, he is in jail. This was Marcos reporting from Atlanta, Georgia.

Next up, we have some fast facts about Sally Ride. Sally was born in California in 1951. She made her mark as a cosmic explorer. She worked as a NASA astronaut and helped design the space shuttle’s robotic arm. She was the first American women to go out into space.

Thank you for watching Scavenger News, and we’re flying off until tomorrow. Have a good day.

Tips and More Tips

This morning I was on this website that gave us tips on writing. I chose this one because I thought it was really important.

Re-write, re-write, re-write. Tear every sentence apart and analyze it. Does it flow? Is it passive or active? The best writers use an active writing voice as much as possible. So instead of saying: “She picked up the pencil,” say instead, “She grabbed the pencil.” Don’t sweat it if it seems to take a century to create something good, that’s how you learn. And with experience the writing process becomes easier. Promise.

You read what was on the top didn't you? Well, if you did here are some of my tips to give to everyone who loves writing. Try to use good words like in our school we have blooms taxonomy such as knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. In the word knowledge you can have state, name, describe, recall, and more.
