My Wacky Tale

One morning I was doing a Wacky Tale, we were choosing a topic that caught our attention. We had to choose some exciting words for our wacky tale. I got this one that caught my attention in a hook.

One hairy day our class went hiking along the Conyers River. Like all humongous hikers, we were ready for any emergency. In our backpacks, we carried milkshakes, pizzas, and one poison dart frog.

As we walked along the trail, Ms.Tobler noticed a nasty footprint. "Do you think a hog made these tracks?" Ms.Tobler asked.

"No, but let's follow the them anyway," suggested Marcos.

We shouted for hours. Then I screamed, "Oh Man!! I think I see a huge brain."

"Wow!!!" they heard someone say. It was Ms. Hooper.

" Ms. Hooper!" they screamed. "We thought you were a huge brain!"

"Do I look like a huge brain? Well, as long as you're all here, you can   help me look for lice. There are lots of them here along the Conyers River. We can take them back to school and study them under our microscopes."

  " Wow!!!" everyone said.

Welcome To JHH

Hello, and welcome to J.H.House Elementary School where your child is at home. Here we learn what to do while your child doesn't know what to do in class. We are always here to help you out with any question. We will assign you a student to show you what things are, where things are, and which class you will be in.

Hey, how are you doing today? O.K. This map shows you where the restrooms are and the rest of the school. You might see your teacher, and she will tell you your class schedule. Meanwhile, I will tell you what you will learn in this school. Let’s start with science, in this subject you will be learning about friction and magnetism. Also, you may do about three experiments on these subjects.I think you might enjoy this unit.

Math is another subject that you will learn at this school. Right now you are going to do fractions, to be specific equivalent fractions. If you have any problems about math you should tell your teacher and don’t be afraid to ask. All the teachers can help you out on the problems you have.

We move on to writing, in this subject you will learn the six traits of effective writing. I believe that you will write two stories in this semester.  I am sure that you will improve a lot on writing and your handwriting.

Next thing on the list, social studies, in this subject you will learn about World War I through this semester. Social Studies is a really important subject in this school. You should get good grades if you pay attention.

Reading is one of the most important things that you have to pass on the CRCT test. In this subject you will learn about fact and opinion, reading strategies, and comprehension. You will be put in a lower reading group, but if you read good you will be placed on a higher reading group.

The last subject you need to understand is spelling. This subject you will get spelling words each week that you have to know how to spell by the end of the week so you can take a spelling test. If you study you should get good grades.

Then, you might do CNN, CNN is news  that we watch every day in the morning. This subject will help you learn what is going around the world. You are lucky because we are the only school in Rockdale County that does CNN. This subject is really important because other students watch the news but they don't discuss what they see and listen. However, we always take notes and discuss what we saw. This subject is really important because you could learn what is happening around the world and what things are happening in space. Such as Deep Impact.

If you are chosen to be in the weblog group, man are you going to be excited. In this group you will learn about posting stories on the internet. Also, you will improve on your writing skills. If you don't like writing you should take that back because once you are in this group you will love writing. You can write about anything you want so other people can read it. Once you've done that you will get admired all around the state or even the world! This subject you got to love because you can speak out to the world and make opinions.

Now you are ready to be in this school and know what happens around you. Do you have any questions? Do you have anything you have to say?

Scavenger News

This is Alejandro reporting from Scavenger News on a NEWS FLASH!!! We have just received information that two men who are 17 and 18 years old have been charged on a death penalty. The Supreme Court had to make a decision whether or not they should give the death penalty for the 17 year old teen. They had to rule out the death penalty for the people who are under the age of 18.

In a four to five decision on a case from Missouri, U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the execution to the 18 year old man should get the death penalty because he made 24 murders in nineteen states.

The lack, or laziness, of maturity is undeveloped and the responsibility are found more in youth than in adults. The not so amazing qualities will result in awfully and impetuous and ill considered actions, but authorities disagree. Well that was our News Flash catch us on JHH channel at 9:30 P.M.

The Best For Me

What do you do when you are bored? How many times do go outside? Every time I go outside I practice my soccer skills. I usually call my friends and tell them if they want to play soccer. Most of the times they say yeah but sometimes they don't want to. Do you know how I started to like soccer?

Well it all started out when I was in Mexico. I held a soccer ball for the first time in my short puny life. When I came to the United States my dad asked me if I wanted to be in a soccer team. What do you think my response was? My response was yes. Next thing I know I'm making fire up and down the field. Let me tell you that our first season  was horrible. We always were arguing, fighting, and worst of all we didn't use teamwork and we didn't pass the ball.

The champions were against us on the very first game of the seasons. They put cream on us and then ham. Why do we always get bad luck? I am asking this question because we got the teams that did the best on the last season. About three months passed and something bad happened to our goalie. So we had to choose a new goalie and the next goalie was me. To surprise I was really good at this job so we were at the finals. I had stopped about forty goals during the whole season. We were at the final round and the other team was winning by one goal. Then at the very moment, the ball passed the line that separated the field form the net. Then we went to penalties and we won! The score was five to three. We got the trophy, it was huge. I asked my dad if I could play again but unfortunately we had to move to Georgia. However, I enjoy playing with my friends. Can you imagine yourself playing soccer when you are an adult? Tell me what you would like to do in a soccer field.

Can Artic Animals Be Threatened?

In the morning I was reading this post about animals being in danger because of chemicals. I got this section from this article.

Animals that live in the Arctic are being affected by growing levels of chemicals coming from other countries.

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) says things like pesticides are coming via air, river and ocean currents.

I wish that people never littered and caused pollution because someday this is going to cause servere problems. I never thought that people would be so careless. These animals have the right to live just like the human race. For this reason, Earth might become a barren world with nothing on it becuase of the pollution.

My Fist of Learning Power

What have you learned since September? It could be anything like learning the six steps of effective writing. Maybe you could have been learning to partition types of nouns into persons, places, or things. Well as you may know, at the begining of the year I was chosen to be in the weblog group. I'll tell the story of the things that I have learned since I began to do this. So open your eyes and get a grip for something great.

September, was when I learned what we were going to do all of the year. I learned that we were going to change the appearance of our weblogs. Some of us met Mrs. Davis for the first time and to my surprise I couldn't really understand her because she said a ton of idioms. Now, I understand her better than an anaconda swallowing its food. We did our very first  post the next week.

It was October already and the weblogers were on fire with ideas. The hurricane season had already passed, and right after it ended I wrote a post about it. We had also learned how to post a comment on the weblogs. Also we learned how to get into this program called TypePad. We also learned what our user name and password was. Also, it is where we learned how to post our stories.

We started to do homework on current events. This is when we had to go to a current event website and choose a topic to write a summary about it. I picked one about some scientists that discovered about 15 extra-solar planets. The next thing that I chose was about NASA making a scramjet that can go 10 times faster than the speed of sound! Do you know how fast that is? T hat is about 6,800 mph! Scary isn't it? Anyways, we got to point to when we don't do that anymore.

The next month it was December. We really did a good job so Mrs. Davis told us to post some comments and when we did some we could play games. The rest of the time we played games. It was the last time we came until January.

Then we came back. Knowing the news, Mrs. Davis asked us if we heard about the disaster that happened in Indonesia. Most of the people said that they did. We got the choice to write about it, but I didn't want to write about it. We did a story, well not really a story but an idiom list of sentences. Then, we did an idiom story. Now its an idiom story. Anyways, it was the next time we came that Mrs. Davis had our class weblog up on the screen. Right away I knew that it was going to be a fun day. She told us that she revealed us to the student teachers that she taught. So we did some comments to them.

It was February already, and we were like cheetahs running at top speed. However, a bad thing happened to one of the webloggers. She was in a car accident. Mrs. Davis told us to write her a post saying to get well. After we did that, we went to the webloggers posts. We had to choose on that we liked and read it. When we finished reading, we had to copy and paste to word, and then we got the URL. Once we did that, Mrs. Davis told us to type of a similar situation to the one we chose. That is the last thing I've learned so far. So what have you learned so far lately? Name at least two things.

I Read I Spilled The Beans

I read this post by Ashley that caught my attention faster than an eagle.

One year I had a kid in my class and he always spilled the beans. The whole class jumped down his throat every single time. To me it was hysterical. I cracked up laughing. Other times I screamed with them.

It also made me think about the time I spilled the beans myself.

I once spilled the beans because I was on the truck when my parents told me not to tell my sister that her dolls flew out the truck. I was going to keep the secret when she started to say, “Mom, where are my dolls?” My mom didn’t say anything. That’s when she started to keep saying what she said over and over. Eventually, I got so mad that I screamed out, “THEY FLEW OUT THE TRUCK, O.K.!” So then I was in serious trouble.

Get Well Soon, Ashley!

How are you doing Ashley? The whole weblog group misses you. I feel terrible about what happened to you on that car accident. However, I know that you will be back in school. I think that something weird is going on because people that I know are getting into terrible accidents. I know this because I had a friend that got run over when he was riding his bike. Anyways, I hope that you get better because Mrs. Mateling misses you so much. Hope you come back come running into the race Run

of coming to school. Also, I got a question, were you using your seat belt? Your friend

   Alejandro

Our Big Learning Parade!

Today I went from a good attitude to a really good attitude. Mrs. Davis had our class blog up on the screen, and I knew right away that it was going to be a great day. First, we started out to read our comments from the teachers to be. I got good comments from many teachers-to-be, and I was surprised that some of them were from Canada! However, I liked all the comments, and then I posted comments to some of them.

The next thing we did was go to the place of where the teachers to be did their own weblogs. Mrs. Davis assigned a person’s weblog, mine was Amanda’s Blog. Anyways we opened up this program called Word. The group got a part from the person’s weblog and copied that piece into Word. I got the URL from that web site that is what Mrs. Davis told us to do. We always practice a new skill before we move over to the weblog.

We started another thing. We had to do a story to the teacher-to-be that Mrs. Davis assigned us. We couldn't do the stories on the Internet because it didn’t let us. I did want to post this story on the internet because it is less trouble because you got to copy and paste and then copy again just in case it erases. Would you like to use the internet or the computer? Which do you think is better?

This is one of the teacher-to-be's part of her weblog. Her name is Amanda.

I think that students being able to communicate through the computer is wonderful. Today children are growing up with technology all around them. They use computers everyday and being able to write and communicate with others through the computer is a great idea.

Here is my response.

I know that it is a good idea to have computers because if we didn’t, I wouldn’t want to be in this group because most of the work I’ve done has been on the computer. Also, imagine how much time we would waste writing. I think technology is one of the most important things in the world. So if we didn’t have technology you wouldn’t be reading this right now. Would you think that a life without technology is miserable?

Dear Teacher To Be

Dear teacher to be,

Are you going to be glad because you are going to be a teacher? I hope you and other student teachers make out to be teachers someday. I am eleven years old, and my birthday is on September 23, 1993. My favorite sport is soccer, what is yours? I know that you are going to be nervous on your first day of school and excited. I felt that same way when I entered kindergarten.

I'm not going to be a teacher when I grow up, but I know some things about teaching. Try to be nice to your students but not so nice because your class will go nuts. Also, try not to give students so much homework that they don't have time to do anything else at home. They might end up hating you. That is bad because then they will not pay attention to you.

Another thing is that if you go to recess give them about 20 minutes of recess. So that their brains could take a break. The last thing is that you should make learning fun by giving projects and things to color. It keeps students focused on what they are learning. Well I have no more ideas about teaching. I wish you good luck and maybe you could be my teacher someday.
