What a year for "American Idol" contestant Diana DeGarmo. DeGarmo was a high school student with big dreams. This fall, she's headed back to school a singing star. Millions of people know her name.
In June, DeGarmo finished her junior year of high school. She also celebrated her seventeenth birthday. In the same month she released her first single, Dreams.
Balancing a music career and activities in her senior year won't be easy. DeGarmo is looking for a challenge. She says she loves to attend every sporting event to cheer on her school teams.
"I'm like a cheerleader, minus the jumping around," Diana says. What kind of teens does she hang out with? She is friends with just about anyone.
"I have friends from all backgrounds...cheerleaders and football players, basketball players, baseball players, teens that don't do activities, and teens in music..."
If you have watched her on "American Idol" you can see she is always nice, every week.
De Garmo is an A student, too. She says she's had mostly A's in high school, with a couple of B's.
You may not end up with the year DeGarmo had, but she has advice for you! Her favorite saying is "If you can dream it, you can do it." "Never give up on what you do." DeGarmo says. "Don't let bad or negative people bring yo down." Thanks to DeGarmo for the advice.
Predict how you would do if you were in Diana's situation.
