Today, Mrs. Davis' group joined together and we were asked to hand in our homework. Our homework was to write a poem with starting each line with I'm From like I'm from snowy weather to mountain tops, or I'm from waking up to fresh cinnamon rolls on a sunny Sunday morning. Intresting, eh? Well, here's my first rough draft!
I'm From
I'm from fresh baked goods with my mom's special touch
I'm from diving in machinery, calling my dad to lunch
I'm from novels of all kinds, fantasy my favorite
I'm from refreshingly cool water down my back from my aunt's pool
I'm from waking up to a warm fresh cinnamon rolls on a sunny Sunday morning
I'm from Sarah, my unique one-of-a-kind sister
I'm from my dad, showing off his new RC boats
I'm from my mom, my loving mom who tucks my covers in tight
I'm from my family, the treasure who I will cherish forever!
The original poem, that inspired our class to write this is written by George Ella Lyons. So, how do you like it? Tell me what I should improve, or anything else that I should do. Thanks!
I LOVE your poem! I decided to create one to, since I, SuperThinker, cannot pass up a good opportunity to blog!
Here goes...
I'm from reading - novels, magazines, and blogs
I'm from black beans and white rice, yummy cuban style
I'm from dancing, salsa cha-cha-cha
I'm from my abuelitos, who read to me in spanish
I'm from thinking, superpowerful thoughts
I'm from blogging, making new friends like you!

Thank you for replying to all my posts! I also really love your poem. Soon, I'm going to post a story about Saddam Hussein's capture. I would really enjoy reading your thoughts about the topic.
Can you answer one tiny question for me? Have you ever been to J.H. House before?
Once again, Thanks for replying!

I can't wait to read your poem about Saddam Hussein's capture. I am very curious about what you think about it. I think war is terrible because people suffer so much, and it should only be a very last resort. I wish people could learn to communicate better because when we understand each other better, we can respect each other more. That is why I blog--because I want to inspire people to share their ideas and know each other. I want a happy and peaceful world. I know there are times when our hands are tied and we end up having to fight, but I prefer peaceful ways. I am glad we captured him because many people in Iraq were scared and could not go on to rebuild a peaceful country until they knew what happened to him. I hope we can all move on and learn to live in peace. Also, did you know that schools in Iraq do not have even the most simple supplies to learn with. No pencils, or paper? There is a group called IraqiSchools.com that helps. People can send school supplies to the address listed and help students and teachers in Iraqi. I am sending a box out tomorrow. Maybe you could blog about it, too. The URL is http://www.iraquischools.com. Maybe we can both help kids learn in a place so far away that has been hurt by war. You know, kids have a lot of power to make things better in the world. What do you think?
