Racing Recall

In Washington D.C., the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), have recalled the KNex toys, "Mud Bogger" and "Street Shredder". They did so because the saw that the air pumps can burst in the process when children pump then up. When it burst, it can cause the motor of the toy car or any other part to fly off, and those parts have very sharp edges, witch cause serious eye damage or minor cuts.

If the KNex Industry took their toys of the line, shouldnt others do the same? I mean, when a product is found somewhat dangerous, other lines of toys should be checked too, as a safety precaution. As I have seen, there are many different toys where there is a pump involved making the car start, and from the pictures, the pumps look similar to the defective pump.

Also, shouldnt these things be found out in the making of the product? Little defects could cause more than minor cuts or eye damage.

Do you think the toy industry should be more careful in the making of these ore other products?

How Far Will They Go?

Another ice age could have occurred, but these 8 kids would not have even noticed it. They were sucked into playing a video game. Yes, there recently was a Quidditch video game tournament in California and 8 lucky people got to participate. In the video game, Quidditch is the game played by Harry Potter and his classmates at Hogwarts. A group of children astride broomsticks through a basketball-sized ball to teammates until one player gets close enough to through it through a hoop suspended in air: This is a goal, and it's value total equals 10 points in the video game. Randomly at the end of a match, a golden, golf ball-sized ball called a snitch will appear in the playing field, and one important member of each team, called the seeker, will fly quickly and try to catch it. If the seeker grabs it, his or her team gets 150 points and the game ends. Also for the prize for the winner out of the 8 people was that they would be crowned The Top Quidditch Player in the Nation, and then be flown to London to compete against representatives from every nation!!! While playing, the famous star, Bow Wow, provided commentary. Isn't that interesting?

Have you ever been SO interested in something? What was or is it, and why do you like it?

Toy Trouble

Everyone thinks the worst may be over once you survive the holiday shopping rush. I think it's when you go home and on the box it says "Assembly Required." The K'Nex Rippin' Rockin' Roller Coaster is one of the year's hottest toys. I think it's really cool, but the reporters of 20/20 don't. One of them got a Rippin' Rockin' Roller Coaster for their child and when they opened the box... WHOOSH!!! Over a thousand pieces fall out of it. After 40 minutes, the parents give up after completing 2 pages of the 80 page manual. Also, there was the "T-Wrecks" Hot Wheels toy that took an engineer one hour to put together. Don't you think that is a little extreme?

Stop! In the Name of Busyness!

Five minutes before the bus comes, you can't find your left shoe, your agenda, and you haven't eaten breakfast yet. Now that's rushed! Have you ever felt like that? I sure have. These days just make you want to scream! I even have wished they would just go away. In the next few paragraphs, I will tell you how to reduce your stress level!

After a hard day at school, you just want to go home and relax. At home, you realize that you have soccer pratice in an hour, and you have an hour's worth of homework to do. OH NO!!! You feel very rushed and your whole week is like this because of meetings, sports and clubs.

Some things you could do to help:

á Limit your plans to one or two events a week.

á Try to do as much homework as you can in class

á Try to not forget homework. Going back and getting them takes up time.

Merissa had an easy day. She had breezed through her classwork and had joined a school group. After choir, Merissa quickly packed her bookbag and left.

Once at home, she watched a bit of T.V., thinking she had little homework. When it became 6:30, she started her homework. When she looked in her agenda, her teacher had written for her to do a spelling page. She had forgotten to take her spelling book home!

Oh no! She called her friend to get the spelling book. By the time she got the book and started it was 8:00 and she was late for bed and sleepy in the morning.

Things you can do for help:

  1. Check your agenda before you leave school.
  2. Try to do homework earlier so if you dont have something, you can go get it.

If you follow these rules every day, you can start to become stress free!
