Weblog Reflection

We started out in a dull classroom. Until Mrs. Davis came back and introduced us to weblogs. It was hard to get started and make our our own weblogs because murphy got loose and made the internet go down. A LOT.Now that that is finished, the group now does articles, idioms, world news, interviews, and a whole basket full of things. Really the most frustrating thing about weblogs is FORGETTING TO COPY YOUR POST. I really enjoy writing in the Thinking and Writing Wrinkles Group. I think that the group has learned new skills in writing and especially in projecting our voices. I just want to say having a weblog in the classroom isn't a bad idea. It could be very educational and very helpful if you want to put it that way. I hope that our future bloggers can help us make a better world. I think I will be a future blogger in the years to come.

What I am Passionate About/Rough Draft

I am passionate about country music. Everyday when I get home from school I turn on the radio and listen to Kix101.5. To me it feels like I am in my own world doing what I want to do. Country music to me is like the best of the best in music history.

I am not only passionate about country music, I am also passionate about jazz music too. Just to use some background knowledge, did you know that jazz came from the African American heritage? And did you know that jazz was very popular music all across the country around the 1920's? Well if you didn't you should review your history!

I am really not passionate about just music, I am really passionate about art. Every time I get a pad of paper and a pencil I always start to draw. I really don't know what I am going to draw, but the drawings seem to turn out cool.

These are really the three main things I am really passionate about. What are you passionate about?

Blogging Reflection

I read a post Mrs. Davis wrote on the Thinking and Writing Wrinkles website. I really am tickled pink that Mr. Richardson's class  is going to just teach us "indirectly". I also liked how the students wrote to each other and told their friend in detail how they need to revise their story. These tremendous student voices really helped us to write a very well written comment. I think after this "project" we will be blogging  like maniacs! Well this ends our one-of-a-kind blogging experience!!!

I am Tickled Pink about the Weblogs!!

I was on the ball the first time Mrs. Davis gave an assignment to the class.  I am glad I get to have this experience again. This will help me learn new skills in writing good descriptive paragraphs and techniques to narrate stories better. I am very delighted that I get comments from friends, family, and from other people as well. What do we do in our weblog group you ask? Well first off, Mrs. Davis gives an assignment the week before. Then we come in and discuss what is on the agenda that day. Next we go to the computer lab and find an article. These are a few steps WE do to start writing:1 read your article.2 take a high-lighter and mark the important parts.3 Think about the article.4 tell someone what you are reading about.5 Think about descriptive words to make you writing interesting.6 be sure the who, what, when, where, and, why are included.7 make sure the lead of the article is catchy.8 write your article.9 think of a catchy title.10. read article outloud to yourself.11 proof article yourself.12 ask someone else to proof it.13 make corrections to make it better.14 reread it one more time! We do this for about an two hours.(8:30-10:30) I really hope students and teachers will get inspired and follow our footsteps from the beginning to the end!

Thinking about Possibilities

Today in class Mrs. Davis read her post that she posted about Think Possibilities. After that, we discussed it in the lab. We talked about how Mrs. Davis talked with Mr. Richardson and how he wrote what he thought about what webbloging was. He said:

#1: Find and read material that is relevant to your life.

#2: Capture the essence of this relevant reading, give credit to its source, and synthesize those ideas into a piece of writing that advances a personal, perhaps greater understanding of that topic.

#3: Publish that writing for response and for perhaps pushing someone else's thinking on the subject.

#4: Read some more.

I think this can be a reminder to me what weblogging is in his point of view. Although he used highschool words to write this, us elementary kids can break it down to understand what he meant.
