Field Trip

Well, we made it Fernbank in the pouring rain and had a great time. The "Frogs" exhibit was amazing!  We saw so many strange looking frogs from all over the world. The Poison Dart frogs were my favorite.  They are so small and beautiful yet so very dangerous.  As usual, the dinosaur skeletons in the great hall were bigger than I remembered.  Wouldn't it be neat to have been able to see these huge creatures when they were alive?  I think that every one would agree that one of the best parts of the day was the IMAX movie called "Bugs".  The photography was beautiful and I have never seen insects so up close and personal before.  If you've had a chance to go to Fernbank I'd love to know what you thought of the exhibits too.

Fernbank Museum

Fernbank01 I'm really looking forward to 3rd grade's field trip to Fernbank Museum on March 31st.  We'll be Seeing some really impressive examples of fossils like their 3 story tall dinosaur skeletons.  We're also going to see an exhibit on frogs from around the world.  Frogs come in every color of the rainbow and we'll be able to see many different kinds in their own habitat.  Next, we'll take a walk through Georgia's past and see the creatures that lived here long ago and some that still do.  But, the thing I'm looking forward to the most is seeing the film "Bugs!"  on the giant IMAX screen.  The screen itself is as tall as a 3 story building so the insects will be huge!  We're going to see, and experience, and learn so much. I think this field trip is going to be the best I've ever been on.

Happy Holidays!

I hope everyone rested well and had fun with family and friends during Thanksgiving break.  Christmas break is coming soon but we've got a 3 weeks to learn just a few more things before we take another restful break.  All of the students in 3rd grade can look forward to learning more about animals Img_1795and their environments.  We'll start with food chains and then move into different ecosystems that are found all around the world.  In math we'll begin  MULTIPLICATION!!!!!  I know you're all excited about that. There are lots more subjects and things to learn so activate that brain and lets get to it!

A+ on the science test

I just wanted to say how proud I am of Dionicia.  She recently made a 100 A+ on her science test on animals!  She was able to do this by paying attentDionicia_zendejasion in class and studying at home.  A perfect score on such a hard test deserves a little recognition.  Also making 100's were Miguel and Tyler.  Tyler Way to go guys!Miguelquevedo

Alberto Gonzales

Alberto_gonzales_1 President Bush recently said that he would like for Alberto Gonzales to take John Ashcroft's old position as Attorney General. I think this is a good move for the President and the country.  Hispanic-Americans need more representation in our government as well as examples of succesful individuals to look up to.  I hope that Mr. Gonzales's appointment will help build a bridge between the President and those who didn't vote to keep him in office.

Four More Years

George_w_bush_04 Well, I haven't kept up with my weblog like I intended to and Mrs. McCullers has reminded me of it often.  So here are a few thoughts on current events:  President Bush has been elected to serve for 4 more years and it appears that, according to our Kid's Vote results, most students agree with the outcome.  Whether you like President Bush or not it sure is good to have a quick decision and know who is President without a lot of lawsuits and voting problems.  The last time President Bush was elected there was a huge fuss about it and we didn't find out who was really President until the Supreme Court told us 5 weeks after the election.  Personally, I'm glad its over and I hope that President Bush will do a good job.

Me

Hi everyone! This is the first post on my brand new weblog. In the future myself and my students will be posting our thoughts on current events, cool science facts and opinions, what we're learning, writing, and reading. This will be a great way for us all to communicate and express our work, ideas, creativity, and questions. Check back often and feel free to leave your comments and questions for me and my students.
