My Exciting Experience

I had a very exciting experience recently. On the day of February 26, 2003  I was typing Venzuela Shutdown. After school that day I went home and realized I had to do the rest of my homework after tutoring and church and I had nothing prepared for the other story . So immedietly after I got home at 7:30 I began starting up the internet so I could get on the internet to post my story. The first thing I realized when I opened up my blog was I had a response  from the story I had typed that day. WOW  I exclaimed !!! Once again thanks Julie for posting it really makes the bloggers feel very special . Thanks again Julie :)

5th Harry Potter Book

Are you a Harry Potter fan? Well , it's time to get out a red marker and circle this date on your calendar : June 21. This is when the 5th Harry potter book (By:J.K.Rowling) comes out on store shelves. Curious of the tile? The 5th book will be entitled Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. When this book did not come out last summer thousands were very dissapointed. This summer readers better set aside a good bit of time to read this 768 page volume. WOW that sure is a lot of reading.  Well if you plan to read it I hope you enjoy it.

Venezuela Shut Down

Store shelves are bare resteraunts and malls are closed and so is every other business in Venezuela.In the past two months Venezuaela has come to a stndstill. For those who don't know Venezuela is a large country in northen South America. This has caused a major problem for the economy.On December 2 , the country's labor and business leaders called for a general strike. They went on strike because they didn't like the three year old government of President Hugo Chavez . They also say that Chavez'sdecisions have hurt the country's economy. They want him out of office immedietly. The sutdown has cost Venezuela some  $4 billion dollars. That's a lot of money. Caracas the capital is one of Venezuela's main ports .You maybe wondering what product  they ship. Venezuela's main product is oil. If they can't get it out then they are in a lot of financal problems.

Prethoughts About a Research Topic On Bullying

Hello, we are doing a major research topic,and I chose Bullying. This is a rough draft on my thoughts,and a couple of facts and why I chose it .

          " Leave me alone!" shouted Bill as the 8th graders made fun of him. This happens every day to kids across the nation.

            Bulllying is a horrific experience. Do you realize that in the U.S. 19,000 children attempt suicide every one half an hour?  That means 38000 children die an hour!!. Suicide is now the #1 cause of death for 18-24 year old males.

       I chose this topic because I have a sibling who is bullied everyday.  He/She comes home everyday saying that somebody talked about his/her big head. It seems he/she is a very unhapy child. This topic has always been very important to me.

            One day I wish there would be a happy world out there but there is a very small possibility that could happen. When someone walks into a room looking nearly perfect someone always has to find something to pick on them for.

            Hopefully  Bill will read this and realize some people care and are  trying to help him with the problem bullying.                                                    By:Lindsay G

 

Antartica's Meltdown

When you think of Antartica what's the first thing that comes to your mind land of ice Right?Antarica is slowy melting away. The cause of this horrible disaster is global warming or so scientists think. This huge continent holds 75% of the worlds fresh water supply if this were to melt the sea level would rise 200 feet! Last year scientists discovered that a large peice of  ice the size of Rhode Island crumbled into the sea.If htis dose not stop Antartica could completley dissapeare.

Early Stages of War

          War always causes trouble in the countries participating. The soilders, their famlies, the prices of gas , and people rushing out to buy water and duct tape. War is such a bad time for everyone in the country , but the people I believe it effects the most is the famlies of the soilders. Could you imagine  waking up one day to find your mother or father standing there saying they were leaving the next day and wouldn't be back for a long time? That must be devistating. Or your mother or father coming home crying one day soon to tell you that the one parent that was off at war is DEAD!!!? The children of these brave soles realize they could face this one day.I could not even begin to think about how painful this must for those children. I have thought about this and thought about this and I could not even imagine being in this position.

How I Feel about Weblogs

Feelings on Schoolblogs

I feel schoolblogs are enjoyable because......

1. You feel like an all star baseball player who is having all of your fans cheering you on.

2.  You can just let your feelings fly.

3. You can have a place to express your feelings similar to a diary.

4. You have a very understandable audience.

5. We have a wonderful teacher that is very kind and generous.

6. We have a wonderful opportunity to become great writers.

7. You have a chance for people to enjoy your writing.

8. We have wonderful sources, not only our audience but also CNN student news.

9. You can say whatever you want to say on your topic. (within certain boundaries).

10.  You can enjoy the internet with out being worried about coming across something inappropriate.
