I'm Back

       Hello everyone. It's Lindsay. Sorry I haven't posted anything in a long time. I've been very busy in middle school..I love all of my classes especially Science and I would like to say a big Hello to Mrs.Davis

Student's Reflection on Weblogs

1.What's your favorite thing about weblogs?

My favorite thing about weblogs is the fact that we are having fun while learning and how we can tell how we feel about anything.

2.What will you do with what you have learned?

In the future I plan to become a journalist and I would funnel all of my knowledge into that.

3.What has been the most challenging or frustrating thing in weblogs? How have you met the challenge or overcome the frustration?

The most frustrating thing has been forgetting to copy your writing  because as we all know sometimes the internet is out to get you.

4.Do you feel more confident about any of your skills: Computer? Writing?Reading Critical thinking? Explain.

Definitintely Computer. I have learned soooooo much about the internet and weblogs. One thing is how to add links and also how to put in pictures.

5.Do you ever find yourself helping others? How does that feel .Is this a new role for you or not?

Yes. I help people all the time and it makes you feel older and builds your responsibility.

6.What skills that you have now that you didn't have are most valuble to you and why?

I now can write great and powerful stories.

7. In what ways have you become a better writer?

I can now write clear and flowing stories and now I can write decent lead-ins.

8.What did you think of the GA-NJ connection?

It was an interesting and informing program.

9.Did you tell anyone about your weblog? Did others read your weblog?How does it affect how you write?

Yes, I told others and they responded and it makes you write better because you know there is an audience reading everything you type.

10.Which response that you got from someone who made a comment about what you wrote did you like best? Why?

Well one day I got a response from Kelly and Alexa (Ga- NJ connection) saying my writing was excellent. This made me very happy because I was afraid that they would criticize my writing and they actually liked it. I was so proud of it and I've never forgot it.

 

 

Simulation Interview

Hello today we were allowed to bring a guest . My guest is Perla, a previous schoolblogger. We have to thank the NJ journalism students for the mini lessons they provided us. We are doing a simulation interview of our teachers. We plan to include a disclaimer(which we learned about this morning) along with our interview. Last week we brainstormed interview questions. We came up with 10 interview questions. Over the week we came up with more.

Lindsay's and Perla's Interview with Mrs. Mateling

Lindsay and Perla: We were informed you have taught not only in Rockdale Ct. but also in others. Which schoolsystem do you like the most? Why?

Mrs.Mateling: I like Rockdale better because they care more about their children  and have the smartest kids in G.A.

Lindsay and Perla: Your husband is a teacher as well as you. Do your children like having two parents with a teaching profession?

Mrs. Mateling: Yes they are perfectly fine with it

Lindsay and Perla: What is your saddest situation you have encountered in your years of teaching?

Mrs Mateling: Seeing a very very smart child fail.

Lindsay and Perla: What is the happiest day of school for you? Why?

Mrs. Mateling: The happiest day of school for me is the last day  because everyone is so happy and dressed up.

Lindsay and Perla: How many years have you been teaching?

Mrs. Mateling: I have been teaching for 30 yrs.

Lindsay and Perla: How many parents of your students have you taught?

Mrs. Mateling: Well, let me think, I think it would total up to about 10.

Lindsay and Perla: What let you know that you were meant to be a teacher?

Mrs. Mateling:  When I was a teen I worked at camps and I loved to work with the children and things went from there.

Lindsay and Perla: Explain the unique way of teaching.

Mrs. Mateling: I like to let my students have fun so they actually want to come to school everyday.

Lindsay and Perla: Do you believe teachers are treated with enough respect?

Mrs. Mateling: Absoluteley NOT!!

Lindsay and Perla: Did you always want to be a teacher Why or Why not?

Mrs. Mateling: No actually I went to school believing I wanted to be a Social Worker. But halfway through college I realized I was meant to be a teacher.

Poems in the News

Hello we are doing poems in the news. I am doing a cinquain.The lines in a cinquain should include  1.one word of two syllables (can be title)

                                     2.four syllables (describing subject or title)

                                     3.six syllables showing action      

                                     4.eight syllables ( expressing a feeling or observation about the sub.)

                                      5.two syllables ( describing the subject )

Haikus For You

      Hey Lindsay Here, I'm doing a Haiku (which is a poem) in the news. The first line consists of  5 syllables (word or phrase). The second line consists of a 7 syllable phrase. And last but certainly not least is the 5 syllable end. I'll do mine on Iraq shutdown. Well here it goes .......

Tanks entered Baghdad

Welcomed with cheers and flowers

Saddam rules no more

Georgia Steps Up To the Plate

                Georgia breeds heroes. In the war with Iraq we already have many heroes in this war. Out of  the thousands of personnel Georgia has in Iraq there has been an abundanceof people making headlines .We have got several milatary bases. The people that train there and work there we consider Georgians. So when anything happens to these people good or bad we weep or rejoice. We unfortunateley had several losses of our fine inj the past weeks. But we have also had stories and statements and testimonials in the battlefield that say Georgian troops are among the best

                 As an example Capt. Chris Carter (from OconeeCt. G.A.)was in a firefight with Iraqi solders. While driving his defense vehicle he saw a women caught in the crossfire on a bridge. He jumped out of the truck to bravely sheild the wounded Iraqi woman caught in the crossfire.

                   As Georgians and Americans we are proud and support our fellow Americans in their effort. It's unfortunate that Georgia has greater losses than most states of their fine men and women.

I am going to miss writing to you each week too!!  It stinks that we did not get to write to each other longer, but I think we all learned a lot from doing this with you guys.  I hope our advice was helpful, and I hope we gave you some useful feedback.  I think you are a great writer, and you are going to get even better with all the hard work you are putting into your writing.  Good luck with all of you future writing, and I will hopefully get on your web log by the end of the year and check out what you are doing.  Keep up all of you hard work!!

Hey Lindsay!  I just want to tell you how much fun I had doing this!!  I will miss reading your responses weekly, I hoped I helped you with your writting.  Hopefully you will continue to write and if I ever have time I will definitly take a look at your weblog for you.  Good luck with everything, I'll miss talking to you.
