A Tsunami Forms in the Indian Ocean.

A terrible thing happened on December 26. A tsunami formed because of the movement of the Australian plate and the Asian plate collided creating a 9.0 earthquake. The sea floor lifted about ten feet high! The impact created waves that could travel 500 miles per hour as fast as a jet plane! As the tsunami begins to feel the bottom of the ocean it got bigger. The waves were about 50 feet high as big as a ten story building! The most effected areas were Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.

Thousands of people are dead, and some are still missing. One woman watched here daughter being washed away from her hands. Helpers are coming in bring supplies for the survivors. What would you do in middle of a tsunami?

Disasters Occur in Japan

Terrible typhoons hit Tokyo like a wolverine gone wild. There were many sad and hurt people. The unmercyfull typhoons destroyed roads and homes. The horrible typhoons opened up the ground and there were huge earthquakes. The huge earthquakes shook Tokyo like a dog shaking water off its back. There were also landslides and flooding.

I know a little bit about the scale scientists use to measure earthquakes? I now they can measure 8.6. Can any one else tell me or share additinal information about the different scales scientists use?
