My Opinion About Testing

Yes, the CRCT is over. I kind of liked the test because we didn't have homework, we went outside, and watched some movies. Testing is a way to know how smart you are.  Testing can make people feel bad too. If a person has a bad day they might be judged by saying that they are not smart.I didn't like it because we didn't get to use mechanical pencils. We also had to sit quietly for almost an  hour. Do you like testing? why or why not.

Improved Tip

This was my previous tip but, now I'm going to bump it up.

Grab the readers attention with a catchy lead. Here is an excellent introduction written by Alejandro.  Hey! would you like to transform your writing into a masterpiece?  A catchy lead can make readers read your writing.

  This is my revised tip.

Make the readers' eyes stick to your post like glue with a catchy lead.  Here is a catchy lead from Alejandro. Hey would you like to transform your writing  into a masterpiece?  His lead made me want to read his post.  A catchy lead will make the readers  hang to every word you're saying.

Mount Saint Helens Acts Up

This morning I was reading a Time For Kids magazine when something caught my eye. It was  about Mount St. Helens acting up again. For the past six months, Mount St. Helens, in Washington state, has been rumbling. On March, 8 Mt. St. Helens spewed  a humongous 30,000 foot cloud of ash!  If I were in that  situation I would to my house and hide under my bed. The eruption sent tourists running for their lives as if they were being chased by a giant man eater bug.  Mt. St. Helens has been tempted to erupt since September 23, 2004.  Thousands of tiny earthquakes shock the mountain as if it were a piggy bank. Scientists are not keeping there eyes off the sleeping giant.  The last time it blew it's top off was May 18,1980. Forests were turned into ashes like a card box in a fire. Predict what would happen to the sleeping giant.

I took this article and rewrote it in my own words. This is an example of  word choice and voice. We are studying  Six Traits Of Writing in class. It is in my own words because I didn't copy every word from the article. It is in voice because I'm saying my opinions.

Writing Tips

Here are some tips to make your writing better and interesting.

First, always check your work.  Checking or proofreading work is really important, because it makes your writing more interesting and readable.  It is easy to make mistakes on your writing. I still make mistakes on my writing.  You can check your writing  by reading your writing softly out loud, or you can use a dictionary.

Second, use vivid vocabulary to make pictures in your  readers' heads. Vivid vocabulary is also known as dialog. Dialog brings your writing to life, and more interesting. If you don't use dialog readers won't read your writing and it will be boring.

Third, grab the readers attention with a catchy lead. Here is an excellent introduction written by Alejandro.  Hey! would you like to transform your writing into a masterpiece?  A catchy lead can make readers read your writing. Have you ever used writing tips?

Tips for writing and learning.

This morning I was reading Tips For Young Writers when something caught my eye.

Re-write, re-write, re-write. Tear every sentence apart and analyze it. Does it flow? Is it passive or active? The best writers use an active writing voice as much as possible. So instead of saying: “She picked up the pencil,” say instead, “She grabbed the pencil.” Don’t sweat it if it seems to take a century to create something good, that’s how you learn. And with experience the writing process becomes easier.

You  have  read the top haven't you?  Well, here are some of my tips. The first one is you always proofread your work. I I'll tell you something sometimes I forget to proofread my work.

Keeping Weblogs Alive

Do you watch the news at your school? At my school we watch CNN student news everyday. We've watched them sense 3rd grade.  I think we are the only elementary school that watch the news. We also write about  the news in our weblogs. Weblogs   are a source of learning.  Elementary schools should allow them.  If you could allow weblogging would you allow it? I would allow weblogging. They should allow them because students can improve their writing and communication skills. Weblogging has made me a better writer and a better  typer. This will help me through out my life. We have learned a lot of things. One of those things  we learned is to proofread your work. It is important to proofread your work because you wouldn't want easy mistakes on your post.  Weblogging has helped me think at my full potential. It has also affected me by sharing my knowledge with others.  When I'm writing I feel like a new person and famous. Sometimes we get bad comments, but the teachers fix it. Would you allow weblogs? Why or why not.

Student Voices Matter

http://itc.blogs.com/thewriteweblog/2005/01/student_voices_.html

Here is a quote from her post.

Students, never doubt that your voice matters.

I totally agree with you. Adults should also listen to what students have to say. I also think that students should also listen to what adults have to say. I think all voices matter.

Dear Teacher-to-Be,

Dear Teacher-To-Be,

I have heard that you want to be a teacher.  I'm going to give some advice.

  • First, you would need to be nice so students can see you as one of their own.

  • Second, you should set some limits because you wouldn't want your students acting like wild monkeys.

  • Third, you would need to care for the students. Just pretend that your students are your kids.

  • Fourth, make learning fun for your students.   Give examples about the lesson that you are covering.  You could let your students work in groups so they can learn to communicate with one another. Also you could let the students act the lesson. You could also have a little game to see how   well they paid attention. My teacher Ms. Rikard split us into two even groups and she would ask a guestion, and we would go up to the board and the write the answer as fast as we could. Like, if you are doing a word wall and for every word the students use their team gets a point and the team that gets the most points gets an award. Students like to play and when you teach them like they are playing they could learn better.                             Fifth, explain the consequences to the rules and the punishments. One of my teachers would make us write our name on the board and if you got 1 check you would get silent lunch. Sixth, teach your students to respect you and their classmates. Seventh, have rewards for the students that have been good and follow rules. You could take your students outside to play kickball. So the can relax a little from all the work.
