Tips for writing and learning.

This morning I was reading Tips For Young Writers when something caught my eye.

Re-write, re-write, re-write. Tear every sentence apart and analyze it. Does it flow? Is it passive or active? The best writers use an active writing voice as much as possible. So instead of saying: “She picked up the pencil,” say instead, “She grabbed the pencil.” Don’t sweat it if it seems to take a century to create something good, that’s how you learn. And with experience the writing process becomes easier.

You  have  read the top haven't you?  Well, here are some of my tips. The first one is you always proofread your work. I I'll tell you something sometimes I forget to proofread my work.

Burper Boy

This morning I went to this site called Wacky Web Tales.  I got to create my own one here it goes .I hope you enjoy it.

Burper Boy had everything a T-Rex could ask for. He had gross food, a big, cool bed, and the Mendez family to look after him.

One morning Burper Boy woke up. "I'm hungry!" he said. He went down to the 11, but everyone in the Mendez family was still asleep. "I guess I'll have to find my own breakfast," he said.

Burper Boy went outside and puked down the street. On the sidewalk, he saw a humungus animal. "Gulp!" Down went the animal. "Not bad!" said Burper Boy.

Next, Burper Boy headed for the park. There he found a pair of scales just sitting on a bench. "Gulp! Gulp." Down went the scales. "Mmmm, super intelligent!" said Burper Boy.

Burper Boy was feeling very doom as he skipped over to a video store. There he saw some tasty video games. "Gulp! Gulp! Gulp!" Burper Boy swallowed True crimes streets of L.A. and WWe DAY Of Reckoning whole.

"Holy Mercifull Jelly Beans! It must be time to go home," said Burper Boy. He scrambled back home and up the stairs to his cool bed.

"Breakfast! Time for breakfast, Burper Boy!" called Mrs. Mendez.

"I don't feel very well," groaned Burper Boy. "It must have been those spaghetti's I ate for supper last night." Burp!

Keeping Weblogs Alive

Do you watch the news at your school? At my school we watch CNN student news everyday. We've watched them sense 3rd grade.  I think we are the only elementary school that watch the news. We also write about  the news in our weblogs. Weblogs   are a source of learning.  Elementary schools should allow them.  If you could allow weblogging would you allow it? I would allow weblogging. They should allow them because students can improve their writing and communication skills. Weblogging has made me a better writer and a better  typer. This will help me through out my life. We have learned a lot of things. One of those things  we learned is to proofread your work. It is important to proofread your work because you wouldn't want easy mistakes on your post.  Weblogging has helped me think at my full potential. It has also affected me by sharing my knowledge with others.  When I'm writing I feel like a new person and famous. Sometimes we get bad comments, but the teachers fix it. Would you allow weblogs? Why or why not.

Comment By Pat Street

   Hey Pat Street,
Thank you for commenting on my post. Thanks for the advice to improve my writing. No, I haven't been to Seaworld but I think I'm going this summer. I came up with this name because I love everything that has to do with science.

Guess what happened? Something really awesome happened! Mrs. Davis had taken me out into the hall. I thought I was in trouble. She had just talked to me about her mother that passed away. Her mother had left a bunch of National Geographic magazines from the years 1988,1889,1990,1991,1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000,2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004  There are two sets of magazines for each year in cases. "Wow" I  would have all those magazines. She gave them to me because my writing has improved and   that  I love science. She also said that she would leave them in good hands. She also  said that it would make her mother very happy to leave them in a student's hands who cares about science. She also loves to read them.  I felt so happy that I got the magazines because I love science. I am going to put the magazines on a shelf and read one every day. I also have to ask my parents for permission to keep them. I'm pretty sure they will let me have them. The good thing is that I don't have baby brothers or sisters to mess them up. Have you ever gotten something really special that made you scream in excitement? Describe what happened.

Soccer

"Goal," I screamed. We were playing a soccer game at the soccer field. My team was named the Rockdale Rottweilers and the other team were the Martians From Mars. The score was 2 to 1 my team was winning. On my team it was  me, Alejandro, Johny, and Javier. On the Martians From Mars were Juan, Patrick, Bobby, and Jose. "No Bobby's team scored a goal,"I screamed. We quickly huddled up and planned our play. "Here it goes,"  said. I would take ball and pass it to Javier and Javier would pass it to Johnny and he would pass it to Alejandro who would be near the net. It was time to put our plan into action. I quickly passed the ball to Javier  before Juan attacked. Here it goes Javier passes the ball to Johny and Johnny  quickly passes the ball to Alejandro and goal by the Rockdale Rottweilers," I screamed. We had won the game. If you could create a sport. What would that sport be like?and how would you play that sport.

Lesson Plan From Sabrina

This is one of Sabrina's lesson plan.

Next, have students log onto the following Web site to create their own hurricane using these elements.

I would love to create ny own hurricane. I think that your students would also love to create their own hurricane. I would also enjoy the lesson plan because it would help me understand how hurricanes form and what are their effects.

Learning,Learning,and Learning

"Oh," no my head is going to explode! It exploded because my brain overloaded with too much knowledge. I am going to tell you about all the learning that has been happening  since September. The very first thing I learned was what we would be doing through out the year. I learned about weblogs and how we be using them. I thought about weblogging,as when you put your mind, heart, and soul onto your writing. As we  went on we learned about writing our posts on typepad and how to use the current event sites for information. I would also have a voice or when you express your feelings and thoughts through  your writing. I had trouble proofreading my work. This was one of the things we learned to do. Proofreading helped me a lot on my writing. It also helped me communicate better with the audience. The next thing we learned was on how to comment on our people's weblogs. Mrs. Davis gave us a sheet that had comment starters . For example,This made me think about.  This also helped me understand commenting. The next thing we learned was Blooms Taxonomy a short way to remember Knowledge,Comprehension,Application,Analysis,Synthesis, and Evaluation is keep clam at all sports events. After that we learned hyperlinks or chain links. Hyperlinks are when you take a paragraph or sentence from another person's writing and give credit to them. You also respond to the sentence. Weblogging has changed my life in many ways. One of the changes is that I have my own voice. Weblogging has also made me a better thinker and writer. I what ways has weblogging changed your life?

Student Voices Matter

http://itc.blogs.com/thewriteweblog/2005/01/student_voices_.html

Here is a quote from her post.

Students, never doubt that your voice matters.

I totally agree with you. Adults should also listen to what students have to say. I also think that students should also listen to what adults have to say. I think all voices matter.

Fossils

Jhonathan  had an awsome post  about fossils.

Here is an excerpt from his awsome post.

Before now the oldest bear fossils were found south of

Yukon

where the fossils were 12,000 to 13,000 years old.

That’s so amazing that archeologists have discovered something that old. “Oh” one more thing where is

Yukon

?
