Cordelia

Dulce Maria,
You truly "hit the nail on the head." I completely agree with you that our country (or at least where I live) takes trees for granted. It breaks my heart to see oak trees that have been pushing towards the sky for a hundred years or more become lumber on the back of a dumptruck in a matter of minutes. You brought up such a great point about the animals too. Where are the birds and squirrels going to make their homes if we continue to hack their trees into pieces? I certainly wish that there were more young people out there like you that have taken the time to notice that our beautiful trees are being destroyed all around us.

Cordelia

Hi, Dulce Maria, it's me again. I forgot to bring up an important question. Your passion about saving our trees is very obvious. Our country needs people just like you to let their voice be heard. I think you should begin brainstorming about more ways to get your voice out there. How do you think you could do this? What different ways could you use to become a champion for trees? Just food for thought...

Lani

Hi Dulce Maria,

I am persuaded!!! What a well written post!!

I have a challenge for you. Can you write from the other side of the argument? Can you also try to persuade me that using trees is good?

Best,
Lani

Maria,
I find your post is really interesting and well-informed.It makes me think to the whole issue of environment preservation. You make a great point point out the vital relation between trees and the earth's warmth.Trees are important for us to have rains and without rains (water),there is no life. Also, your point about "trees being the habitats of animals" is great.Without trees animals like squirrels are doomed to death, which we don't like to happen.
In addition, your suggestion to use bricks, metal, plastic and recycle boxes and papers instead of wood is well-thought and shows your great sense of audience.Yes,you clearly address the concerns of those who might ask:"How can we build or make folders if we don't cut trees?".Good job! However,It seems that the problem is more complex than we usually think. What will you suggest to poor countries who don't have enough natural resources to make bricks and to get metal?".Also, plastic suggests the idea of oil and a process to get plastic.Do all countries have oil?How many countries can afford the cost for processing oil?Don't you think using woods is cost-effective?What about suggesting planting trees after cutting them?

Cheers,

Friendy

Dulce Maria

Dear Cordelia,

Well I told people what would happen if they still continue to cut trees down
And to be a champion I could send a letter to the president or to the government.
I have question too where do you live?

Dulce Maria

Hi Lani
You ask me if I can persuade that using trees is good. Well sometimes people
Cut trees for a resean like they cut them to make fire and that s makes them warm.

Dulce Maria

Dulde Maria

Dear Friendly,

People can cut trees if it's important and there is alot of poor people can't afford to buy bricks to build thier house. I was talking to those people who cut trees down for no resean. Do agree with me?

Omer

Hi Dulce Maria,

Reading your comment, I kept thinking of the Amazons, the so-called lungs of our planet, which are threatened by an incessant deforestation campaign by some "strong" corporations. I do agree with you that the consequences of cutting threes without replacing them will cost us not only changes in ways/quality of living, but also have us live a future without animals. I can't agree more with your ideas and the urgent need we have to take action soon. I was just wondering what actions could each of us take to raise others' attention to this problem. Most people are too busy to be thining of a future without trees and animals; they have to be reminded of the need to stop cutting trees and start using alternatives. Do you have any ideas for action?

I don't mean to be changing the subject, talking about taking action reminds me of Craig Klielburger, the founder of the Free the Children organization. He started his organization when he was 12 and has since then made it grow to an international one. He has built about 500 schools worldwide for kids and is helping their families on their very basic needs ranging from health to education.

I think we have inspiration we need to guide us to our dreams with good ideas. I can see some good ideas in you and hope to see you taking this issue seriously.

Thanks for the interesting and thought-provoking ideas.

Omer
