I strongly believe that we should have recess two to three days a week. It will help us with these three reasons.
The first reason is it will wake us up. What I mean is all the running will wake us up. It will also help us with paying attention to the teacher so we do not get in trouble.
Another good reason is, when we go outside we have the chance to talk to our friends so we won't be so talkative in the classroom. The teachers do not like when we talk in class they will get mad.
The last reason we should have recess two to three days a week. It will give us a chance to stand and no writing. Since we have been doing that all day.
I strongly believe that we should have recess two to three days a week. So please do it and we would all be happy.
Do you have any suggestions to why we should have recess?
heyy Lindsey!
I agree. Recess is the best. Ever. Here, We only get a 10 minute break sitting in the hallways. But it's wayyy better than nothing. How often do you get recess? I miss recess so much. I think the last time I had it was grade 5? yeah Grade 5. Anyways...Good Post!=) Keep Writing!

Hey Lindsey!
This is a really great blog post! It says a lot about recess, and the good about it. I am in Shyla's class, so I only get a 10 minute break like she does. Sitting in the hallway for break isn't all that fun, but it's way better than nothing, and at least we don't have to go out in the freezing cold! It gets down to -40 here!
I have one question about what you have written here, though:
"I strongly believe that we should have recess two to three days a week."
Does this mean you don't get recess every day a week? How often do you get recess?? We get break instead of recess every day here, so I'm wondering how often you get recess.
Thanks a lot! Keep up the great blogging! =)

Lindsey, I enjoyed reading your “wonderful thoughts” about Lani’s house in the snow. Brrr…It looks so cold. Have you ever played in snow like that? What would you have done if that was your yard? I agree with your thoughts about the snow on the tree. It does look like a star. I also think it looks like Big Foots’ toes. I know, it’s sort of silly; but goes to show, like you said, everybody has different opinions. Great insight!!

Literacy in ECE,
Well I do not really get snow where I live. So I can not tell you what happens when we get snow! But I do wish I had snow to play in. What is the best and worst parts of having snow?

Lindsey, snow rarely falls here in Atlanta. I did grow up in Knoxville, Tennessee and we did get to see snow there. Do you know where Knoxville is? The Smoky Mountains are close by, so it gets colder then Atlanta each winter.
Great question about the best and worst part of having snow! I think the best part of snow is watching my dog chase snowballs. She catches them and then they melt in her mouth and she does not know where they have gone. It is hysterical! The worst part is the dangerous driving conditions. What do you think your favorite and least favorite things about having snow would be?

Literacy in ECE,
I have heard of knoxville but I do not know where it is. Well my favorite thing about having snow is, we get to make snowballs and throw them at each other. My least favorite thing about having snow is, it gets very cold but i really do not care about the cold.

Lindsey,
I agree with you 100%! I am a kindergarten teacher and we only get 15mins once a week. In addition, to what you said, this country is facing a major dilemma of obesity and I think that children do not run around and play like they use to. And said to say, if it is not happening at home the schools need to find a way to provide it to the children. We are living in a time were there are video games to play bowling, football, and many other sports. But students need to run and not sit all day. I believe that education is more than books but it is also about helping students grow socially and physically healthy. And recess would help both of those aspects.

Lindsey,
Interesting topic! It reminds me of my years in elementary school. If there was a period I really loved in elementary school,it was the recess one.It is the opportunity to talk with classmates, play, run, etc. One of the benefits I can clearly remember is that I always went back to class revigorated(big word!)after a recess. That is,after a recess,I went back to class with more energy and enthusiasm to learn and I did learn.I think that there is something wonderful in recess.I can't just imagine a school without recess. In spite of all these benefits of recess,I think that we might need to have the school authorities set the rules for the recess period.Sometimes, some classmates fought or got themselves in trouble during recess. So,the recess period should be well-planned and organized.Don't you think so?In addition, when we have too many recess periods,I think that this might not always help:can the teacher have the possibility to cover the necessary materials?Won't we tend to become a little bit lazier?Won't too many recess periods become boring?

Lindsey,
You have three great reasons explaining why you should have recess three times per week.
How often and how lond do you have recess now?

Hey!
I think that recess is good because it helps you take time to get your book and stuff for the other classes and lets you have a break from all that work. You can also go to the bathroom or anything you need to do in school, then you can do them. I think you should have recess/breaks everyday because you can't just sit in class all day without taking a break or anything. And also if your teacher don't let you go to the bathroom, there is your chance to go. Or if you need to do anything else... well other then go home or something.
In manitona, Canada, grades 6-8 get breaks. They are like recess just we stay inside for 10 minutes to let us get our text books or anything we need to do. And it also lets us get breaks from working.
But yeah I think that there should be recess/breaks everyday in school. It would help lots of students take their time and not rush so much.
Bye!!

Hi Lindsey
I think you and your class should get to go to recess more to bacause you guys are still only in grade 5 and need to be outside. I had recess every day, 3 times a day up until jr.high and even in jr.high we still get brakes from class. I just think it's kinda weird that you guys don't get to play outside more then once a week.
Great blog by the way, Good reasons for getting to have recess.

Josh,
Yeah i compeley agree with you, but my friend said "how do you get to go outside 3 times a day that is like 1095 times a year up until jr. high" her reaction of when I did the math was "WOW" Well that is so not fair though... i wish me and my friend was at ur school then we would have so much time to talk unstead of talking during class. That gets on the teacher's nerves, you know what I mean?? Well mabey if the teacher read this than she might change her mind. So good luck to me!!

Ashley,
Yeah I do need more time for recess, because I love talking to my friend because she is very sweet and pretty. And also because i do not like sitting in class and doing nothing but learning. But it is fine with me, cause i want to go to college.
