What does this picture make you think? It makes me think of some old memories. I remember all of the lights that use to set the circus ablaze. They set the sky on fire. I remember on my birthday I rode the merry-go-round. Some adjectives that come to my mind when I think of this picture is a golden fire, colorful, ablaze, luminescent, and sparkling. I can smell the sweet cotten candy from the county fair. I can taste the sugar on the sweet smelling funnel cake.
What do you think of when you see this picture?

Hi Eddie,
A question is such a good technique for pulling your readers in. I was hooked!
This striking picture reminds me of the Maple Festival on Chardon Square! They set up rides on the Square right in front of the old courthouse. I hear laughter, and song and smell sweet maple syrup wafting from the sugar house on the square. Here's link to the pictures of them tapping two weeks ago and the sugar house:

I have a question for you: What is funnel cake?

Lani,
I always thougt that time square was the only square.
I can't belive you guys go through the prosses of making maple syrup. It looks so cool. When we have fairs in our town we have a pie eating contest. The rules are to eat the pie but you cant use your hands.
What other cind of festivals do you have in Ohio?

Hey, I'd like to know what a funnel cake is too! I love the words you've used - expecially "luminescent".

Chris and Lani,
funnel cake is only fried dough that is sweet. We put confectioners sugar, jelly(jam),or canned fruits. What are some strange desserts that you have that you think is not in america?

What's up Eddie!
Just last night I drove by a carnival across from a major baseball field. It brought back many wonderful memories. I always wanted to go to the carnival at night, just like you said, the lights from a carnival set the night sky ablaze. To me that was so beautiful. I am currently teaching my students about adjectives and I think that the ones you chose to describe the picture are very accurate. But how many more adjectives could you think of to describe the picture if you used the other two senses? Touch and sound? I can think about the stickiness of all the rails that have been touched after someone has eaten cotton candy. I can hear the screeches of joy and terror as people ride the rides that make your belly drop. I think that when describing anything you should use as many of your senses as you can. Can you think of something that you can only describe with one sense?

I've just realised that what you call "cotton candy" we call "candy floss"! As for desserts that we have - Glasgow is famous for deep fried Mars Bars - honest!

Peace,
What grade do you teach?
By the way you can also make up an adjective contest. When I was in 3rd grade we used to do this. Well first the teacher would print out many pictures but there were two pictures of each. Anyways she would put us into groups of 2 and she would give us 5 minutes to write down as many adjectives that describes the picture. Whoever wrote down the most adjectives were the winners.

Chris,
How does depp fried mars bars really taste? I've found a picture of it on wipedia. where I live in Georgia we have something A Twinkie is a that looks similar to it. They are called twinkies. Do you guys have twinkies where you live? Any ways A Twinkie is a "Golden Sponge Cake with a Creamy Filling." What do you guys put in mars bars?

I have to confess I've never eaten a deep fried Mars Bar - just thinking about it makes my teeth ache! They are very sweet and heavy, with a sort of gooey fawn coloured layer and a thin toffee one, all inside milk chocolate. When you bite one, the toffee pulls out in a long string and sticks to your face when it breaks. I can only ever eat a small bit of one - maybe half an inch!

chris,
why can't you eat deep fried mars bars? Do you have a teeth problem or something. do you have braces? I do things that gooey gets stuck in them and it's hard to clean it out.
