Over the weekend I was thinking of how much I enjoy reading your stories that you write during Writing Workshop. I am so impressed with how creative you can be. Writing takes a great amount of effort and time. Here are some questions I was thinking about when reading your stories:
- What do you like about writing? What do you not like about it?
- Do you find writing to be easy or hard? Why?
- How do you like to choose topics? Do you enjoy picking out your own? Or would you rather the teacher give you a topic or story starter? Why?
- Do you have any writing tips for young writers? Think about when you were in Kindergarten and First Grade. What would you like to tell those students now that would help them become better writers?
- Do you have any writing questions that I can help you with?
- What are some suggestions you would give me to help teach you to become great authors?
Remember, you don't have to answer all of the questions above. Just pick a few to explain your feelings and opinions. Also, remember to use complete sentences so that the reader can understand your comments.
After you have answered some of the questions above, I would like you to draw a picture on a white piece of paper. You can draw a picture of what you look like when you are writing. Do you always write at a desk? Where are some other places people write that you could draw a picture of? Another suggestion is to draw a picture of you when you are thinking about writing. Here's one more: Draw a picture of what your brain looks like when it is thinking about writing.
When you are drawing, please draw items as big as you can. Please try to fill up all of the white space on your paper by adding background. Markers work the best. If you are going to write a few words on your picture, please write them in BIG letters. Mrs. Davis would like to try to put them on your blog!
Good luck gang!! I can't wait to here your responses and see your illustrations!
Love, Miss Neville
