I wish you could have seen the students' reactions today as they all discovered that someone had responded to each and every one of their posts! You could feel the electricity in the air. Shouts of "wow" and "look at this" and "I love this!" flew through the classroom. They immediately posted back and then added new introductions under the Let's Get Started Post. Or at least most of them posted there. Some of them ended up in the recent topics area. I haven't quite figured out just how to organize these posts and replies in the most efficient way. For now, we are just enjoying the writing and trying to get more practice so we can all improve. Students also had fun using colors and making the text bold, italicized, or underlined. This type of text writing is a little different from the word processor. We see the code that is used to make the text look the way we want it to. This interactive type of site is new to us so we are learning as we go! Students, I am especially proud of the hard work all of you did. Some of you said that bold and challenging statements were hard, but I know you will get better. Keep trying and we will all work together. Remember all ideas are good ones and we will help each other. I think you have gotten a really good start. Your discussions and contributions during class time were top-notch today. Ok, now we are going to work on sentences with pizzaz. That means using good vocabulary and making a sentence come alive for the reader. You want your reader to get a good picture inside their head when they read your sentences. Use awesome adjectives and strong verbs in your sentences. Some of you went the extra mile and shared writings done outside of class. Outstanding! I am going to make links to these creationsa at the bottom of this post. Assignment - create a MINIMUM of 5 sensational sentences about what you hear on Student News between now and next Thursday. Anyone who wants to go above and beyond with some extra writing, please do! Remember to read, write, and make those connections!
