Hey, Hey Mr. Richardson.....Georgia Kids Appreciate You!

From the Georgia kids.....

We know we are bending good journalism rules a bit here as we are taking a stance on you as a teacher involved in the Georgia/NJ Connection. However, We, the elementary students from J. H. House are the experts on how we appreciate your working with Mrs. Davis on this great weblog collaboration. So here goes....

Thank you very much for allowing your students to work with us because without your permission this would never have happened. This experience has really made my writing soar! Lindsay

There is really only one out of very many teachers who allow their students to correspond with one another over the web and between schools. Let's face it, if it weren't for you, this whole experience would not have been possible. In class the teacher tells us how to change our writing but this is more helpful because I have to figure out what your students are telling me to change on it. In second grade I used to dislike writing very badly. Now writing is my every day thing, and I love it! Emily

I am so thankful that you taught your students. You did such a good job with them that they taught us a lot of good things about journalism. Your students support really helped me gain confidence in my writing. Writing seems so much easier now. Lucy

This experience has been fun and I would like it to go on and on. Thank you for giving us the chance to communicate with your students. I feel like my writing has really improved. Jacqueline

Mr. Richardson, you are such a noble teacher. You enabled the students to write to us and it really helped us improve our writing. I like learning this way because it is fun and different than what we are used to. I think it is better because we get to practice our writing a lot more. Having students respond to me is so cool! Melanie

You have taught me so much in the past few weeks. If you find some spare time, please respond to my writing. I would love to learn more about current events and writing skills! This way of learning is challenging and I have enjoyed every single minute. Dane

Thank you so much for letting your students interact with us. Interaction is a very powerful way to learn. When you have someone else to talk to and help you, it helps you become a better writer. At first I felt kind of upset about my writing skills but now that I have someone to talk with and share my feelings with, I think I have become a better writer. Thank you, Mr. Richardson, for permitting this extraordinary interaction. Brianna

Thank you so much for letting your students help us on our nutgraphs and any other problems we had with our writing. I like this because usually I never have anyone to express my feelings to and to talk to about what I am learning. This makes me feel more occupied than I used to. Having this kind of help is stupendous! Derrrick

You are a very caring teacher. I say this because you helped your students and they then helped me. I was so happy to have this experience. IÁôm glad that I could express my feelings. I was able to have constructive criticism that really boosted my journalism. I am glad to have met such a wonderful caring person such as you. Kayla

This has been an experience for me with my writings. IÁôm glad I could work with someone older with writing skills. I hope this will be a success in my life. Just want to say thanks! Jennifer

Thank you for letting all of your students take time to work with us. It has made a humongous change in my education. You and your students have led me to a new passageway in my brain. This passageway will lead me to new and cranked up vocabulary. I have learned all sorts of exciting things. At first when I saw the words Á nut graphÁ… I thought that would be the boring paragraph but then I learned the real meaning from Christina k. and it helped me in my news leads. THANKS!!! Ben.

First Reactions

The day started with the students viewing The Georgia-NJ Connection Collaboration page. We read it together and of course, we are so curious about who is who in the pictures. Dane is absent today so we are going to wait until next week to send our pictures. We want everyone in it.

Next, everyone began linking to James, Meredith, Travis, Eric, Alexa, and Jenna's weblogs

Reactions around the room.....

  • Look at this!

  • Wow!

  • He is the vice-president of the Latin club.

  • Mine used to live in Hong Kong.

  • They called us mature and our teacher keeps telling us we are immature.

  • This one is on the swim team and I am too!

  • We have so much in common.

  • Oooooooooh

  • I can't believe high school students are writing to us.

  • They like hockey and music.

  • Their writings are soooooooo long.

  • This is so cool!

  • Aaaaaaaaaaaahhh!

Students then went to their own blogs to enjoy meeting the new mentors. They are so thrilled to have help.

Then after picture interruptions and read-in interruptions - which are all a very important part of the school day, we even managed to squeeze in responses to mentors.

    Georgia to New Jersey..............
a big thanks for an exciting beginning!
