Kayla's Komments

Using 9/11?

While I was watching television with my family,  on the corner of the screen was the Democratic Convention.  It opened up with a speech of 9/11,  followed by another.

There was an opinion that the democrats were using 9/11 to tell everyone that it was the presidents fault.

I would like to know what you think of the Democratic Convention using 9/11 .  So please comment.

                                   Thank you for listening,

Elementary Students Reflections on Weblogs

1.What's your favorite thing about weblogs?

I like the fact that I can state my opinion the way I want to.

2.What have you learned?

I have learned to be more patient with things, because if  I do my work will come in handy.

3.How have you changed?

The weblogs have changed my work effort.

4.What will you do with what you have learned?

I will take it further down that road of life ,and hopefully use it in my career.

5.What has been most challenging or frustrating for you and how have you met the challenge or overcome the frustration?

I would say that posting is the most frustrating, I have overcome the frustration by doing something else for a second. So that way I can get it off my mind and calm down.

6.Can you see using weblogs in other classes? Explain.

I really can't decide. I think every subject has their advantages and disadvantages.

7.Do you feel more confident about any of your skills? Explain.

Powerpoint presentations, because I love viewing and showing them. Now I can do that in a exciting and professional way.

8.Do you ever find yourself helping others to learn something? How does that feel? Is  this a normal role for you or new to you?

I always help my little sister with typing, powerpoint, internet, etc. It makes me feel me feel like I am very important. It is totally normal for me.

9. If an outsider visited your site, what would you hope he or she would think about it?

I hope that they would feel comfortable expressing their feelings ,so that way they can respond to me.

10. What skills that you have now that you didn't have are most valuable to you and why?

I'd say typing,I used to type so slowly ,but now I type so fast.

11 .In what ways have you become a better writer?

I have used more professinal vocabulary.

12 .How does having a weblog affect how you learn and write?

It has helped me in class  by being prepared, and it affects me in writing because I know a lot of people are going to see it.

13. Looking back, what would you do differently if you could go back.

I would've made my leads  more snappy.

14. If you could start a weblog ,what would you write about?

I would have a book club/advice column.

15.What did you think of of the Georgia-NJ Connection?

I thought it was a gift to have them help us, and to make the mini-lessons for us.

The contents of this interview published by Kayla and Maria are solely the responsibility of the weblog authors for the posting on simulated interviews with our teachers. Statements made and opinions expressed in these interviews are based on what we believe would be the responses of our teachers.  This activity was developed to help us develop good questions for interviews and then write the interview in a form that would be clear, concise, and interesting for our teacher and others to read.  We, of course, are trusting that our teacher will enjoy this activity as much as we have. We really hope our teacher will agree that our answers could be her answers and will be amazed at how well we have come to know her!  We would like to dedicate this post to Mrs.Mateling and say thank you for a wonderful year.

Interview

Hi,

I had a privilege to bring a classmate.  I brought Maria. This is her first time, but I know she is going to do a good job on our project.  We are doing an interview.  We will work on the parts of the interviewer and the interviewee together.  We wanted to thank the NJ connection kids for the mini-lessons. Bye,

Kayla and Maria

Kayla's and Maria's interview with Mrs.Mateling

Kayla and Maria: If you were president for one day, what would you change?

Mrs.Mateling: The payment of the teachers.

Kayla and Maria: Why would you change it?

Mrs.Mateling: Teachers need more payment because teachers are getting low payments for hard work.

Kayla and Maria: Do you believe that Laci Peterson's husband is quilty? Why?

Mrs.Mateling: Yes, because he tried to change his identity.

Kayla and Maria: What response would you give a person who made fun of you?

Mrs.Mateling: I would usually say "whatever" or "takes one, to know one".

Kayla and Maria: What figures do you believe should be on the Georgia flag?

Mrs.Mateling: A chicken and a peach. With the Georgia colors.

Kayla and Maria: What do you think makes J.H. House a good school?

Mrs.Mateling: social studies

Kayla and Maria: What is your favorite thing to talk about?

Mrs.Mateling: World War II, because I am such a hawk.

Kayla and Maria: How would you label Saddam?

Mrs. Mateling: There are no words to sufficiently express how evil I think Saddam is.

Kayla and Maria: What is your saddest situation?

Mrs. Mateling: My house burning down.

Kayla and Maria: Has there been one day where you have just run out of patience?

Mrs. Mateling: Yes

Kayla and Maria: What is your most exciting topic to teach in social studies?

Mrs. Mateling: MY mother in the Great Depression

Kayla and Maria: If you had a chance to sing professionally would you quit teaching?

Mrs. Mateling: No

Kayla and Maria: How do you treat your students that are in honor roll?

Mrs. Mateling: I take them out to eat, and we have a wonderful time.

Kayla and Maria: How are your students important to you?

Mrs. Mateling: They are very important to me.

Kayla and Maria: Are you positive that your students will succeed?

Mrs. Mateling: Yes, beacause I treat them like my children.
